Growing up, with the old Zebco 33, I definitely remember these. They were so cool looking, but I had the same issue with hook ups. Missed way more than I caught. But they were a blast. I still have 1 head, kinda like a omage to the past. Haven't tried it in 15 years probably.

"I also was into shooting before I got into fishing and man, even high end fishing stuff seems so cheap compared to even mid-range gun stuff. That $500 combo (and another $200 worth of lures) was funded by selling a single crappy rifle. If I could go back in time and put a fishing rod in my hand rat...

I bought one on sale. Used it twice, got some blow ups. Think I landed two fish. I really wasn't impressed. In the package it looks good. However I catch more fish on rage toads, and spro frogs.

Speaking as a golfer and a golf grip installer. All Winn grips begin to wear down with use at a faster rate than normal rubber grips. In golf this expected since you change grips on average once a year. With regular usage. I can't say the rod grips are identical, but I bet they are. And with wet/dry...

Not saying it's still my favorite but, 6.2:1 always got the job done and worked for all applications. I have gotten lazy and do prefer the 7 speeds, but I gotta remember to slow down sometimes.......

The core 50 and original 09 aldebaran are still my go to reels. I love them. Wouldn't pay $300 now though.....
