Has anyone tried this on aluminum main gear of a spinning reel? Yes. Depending on the gear makeup or surface coating or hardening process. It may or may not get "bright" It will polish well..but it will look like it's wet...instead of being a mirror finish. I did a video of me polishing the gear of...

Get the drive gear BNT3951 and the pinion gear BNT3953 as a set.

Not being an engineer, I can not comment on the reason,but, sure the Shimano engineers know best.

Never had any of these fail, so never replaced. If lubed correctly, and regularly, they should last for decades.

The Calais 200A has that odd looking bearing !! ID 8mm X OD 16mm X Width 3.5mm

The plastic ring around the outside is not part of the bearing, but, rather the roller clutch bearing holder.

The measurements are just the bearing.

Bearings never dry, unless they are full ceramic, and NEVER, ever WD40.

When you have unlocked the side plate, turn the whole thing downwards to remove.(Twist towards the reel foot).

Metanium XG has 96mm handle that I believe is the longest low profile Shimano reel handle.
