Re: Post kayak transportation

Bought ‘97 by my Dad in Oregon, towed behind the holiday motorhome until 2000. Then shipped across the Atlantic to Central Europe and driven by me since I turned 18 in 2009, the Cherokee now serves solely for fishing and trips down memory lane to when I got to discover all the major west coast nati...

Re: Third generation Tatula is coming next month

I like that it got the new hyper gears and aluminum side plate. Knobs look sort of like the high grip modern Daiwa knobs which are expensive individually. I just can't get past that shape. Turns out I'm a reel shape snob and don't like reels I think lool ugly like the Steez CT space egg and this poi...

I thought these were already out in the US? It's been on TW for a while now.

Re: Underestimated Lures (or Unappreciated)

I refused to throw a number of baits for years because they made no sense to me but later became staples of my arsenal. Jerkbaits: these are weird long minnow things. We don't have those in our waters so obviously I wasn't going to throw them and didn't, for years, until one October on the southern ...

Re: Rapala DT Flat vs OG or any other Flat Sided Crankbait?

Oh yeah after reading again you are after a replacement for the DT Flat 3 but have both the 3 and 7? For just the Flat 3 I would recommend the shallow Flat A, OG tiny 4, OG slim 6 and Fritts Side 5. The Flat A will be the cheapest and most expendable but it does rattle with the weight transfer syste...

I haul mine on top of poverty box #1 https://i.ibb.co/vqcKNnh/Screenshot-20231121-123518-Gallery.jpg I use this rack extension to get it up there https://i.ibb.co/fq8HHKb/Screenshot-20231002-162557-Gallery.jpg Or in the back with the tail gate like this door but only for short distances with the win...

Re: Any Experience With This Gomexus Carbon Handle?

Aren't Daiwa and Shimano knobs the same? Only a 0.5 mm different in post length with the same diameter? I've seen Daiwa RCS knobs on Shimanos going back years and more recently Shimano power knobs on modern Daiwas replacing the modern thin ick knobs.

Re: Rapala DT Flat vs OG or any other Flat Sided Crankbait?

I received two Strike King flat sided and a Rapala yesterday. I fished this morning, and didn't get a bite on crankbaits, and lost one of the brand new ones in a tree. ](*,) I'll buy the Berkley one next. I was about to order a Bagley, but I didn't. I'll probably buy it soon. I didn't know about th...

Re: My epitome is cursed

Was this is a rod locker? Did water get in and the salt from the baits make a brine? Looks like the reel sat partially submerged in water.

Do you have the 23 Tatula Elite as a comparison or the solid silver older model? The new 23 Elite rods are a pretty significant improvement over their predecessors. I'm awfully impressed with the new Tatula XT's for that matter, extremely impressive for a $100 rod.
I have the old Elite.

Damn nice score!

I don't recall all the colors, but did you look on the package to see where the baits were manufactured?
Made in the USA. Crystal Glow Alabama Shad, bluegill and Bronze Back.

Re: TD-Z Owners Guild

Does the newer ported TD Zillion Ray's spool fish similar to the old non-ported one that I have? I don't like ported spools, but I almost bought one when I bought a PE long cast spool lately. Like most people, I love the old non-ported Ray's TD Zillion spool. It appears to be the same bit with lots...

The Destruction also came in, it's going to make a great close quarters larger bait rod.
I'm eyeing the Destruction and Swap Surviver for that exact reel.

Manns Baby 1 minus

I remember these as a kid and I caught fish with them on pond but they kind faded away as I moved on to more modern baits over the years. Today I went to a tackle shop run by a 94 year old man that I know has ancient baits on the wall for sale. I got some old Robo worms and strike king 3x elaztech l...

Re: Rapala DT Flat vs OG or any other Flat Sided Crankbait?

OG 3 and 6 would be close. Don't overlook the Fritts designed Berkley Frittside flatside cranks. The 7 is closest to the DT Flat 7. The Berkley hardbaits in general are good. I also like the new Bomber Flat A with the weight transfer for fishing rip rap. They are cheap, have the right action, cast w...
