Re: Last chance at a 72H Hyuga

I love my Hyuga for frogs but it has one issue. It is fairly unwieldy and not the best thing to walk frogs with. I haven't weighed them but while it feels lighter weight than my gen 1 PP it is more tip heavy and wonky to walk unlike the PP which rotates naturally and easily at the reel seat even wi...

Re: Confirmed new Nrx coming out !!

One thing that I do like about nrx is the style. I have Valkyrie rods with a skull on the butt cap, poison adrena, xtreme, and all the crazy new style rods and honestly. I prefer the simplistic look and I'm in my 30's 8-) I feel more or less the same way, but also love more "fancy" looking rods. I ...

Re: Ever Been Spooled?

Never with a full spool but I have gotten close a few times when I was messing around with thin fluoro and would only fill the spool up halfway to save money. A lot of the time I would only have dozens of feel of line left on the reel after a long cast, so it's not shocking that it happened and it h...

Re: Last chance at a 72H Hyuga

Bigger paddle tails work very well on it, I use 5" Gambler Big GZs on the smaller side and Optimum Boom Booms on the larger side. There are times when I want more power with the Boom Booms, but only for the heaviest of cover when I am ripping them out of pads. The 72H has really opened my eyes to th...

Re: Never thought it would happen to me

I use 8lb J-Braid on a Pixy w/ DIY spool and if I set the spool tension with a little play it seems like it can get suck in there every hundred casts or so. Not often enough to be an issue really but if I add enough tension to remove the play it seems to prevent it. Also I have noticed that with a f...

Re: Is Daiwa becoming a Tatula???

But for real has anyone here actually laid hands on a fishing ape Zillion? It’s gotta be the rarest of the rare. I’ve hit so many of the treasure shops in Japan over the years and have never laid eyes on one I have thought of trying to make a knockoff Fishing Ape Zillion, it seems like it would be ...

Re: Is Daiwa becoming a Tatula???

Colored reels are nothing, back when Daiwa was fun they did a line of reels, lures, and clothing with the streetwear brand A Bathing Ape. http://www.hypebeast.com/image/2010/02/a-bathing-ape-daiwa-fishing-ape-1.jpg http://www.hypebeast.com/image/2010/02/a-bathing-ape-daiwa-fishing-ape-12.jpg http://...

Re: Refreshed 13 concept reels

I thought the first generation fished well, but I couldn't palm them comfortably with the sharp edge on the palming sideplate. Doesn't look like that has changed. It's a no from me. That’s what killed my enthusiasm for them as well, it’s such a ridiculous place to put a sharp ridge. I still use min...

Re: Is Daiwa becoming a Tatula???

I just want them to stick with a few standard spool sizes. What got me into Daiwa over Shimano at first was the lure of spool interchangeability, I love being able to switch between line types to try out whatever dumb idea I have w/o having to respool.

Re: New Poison Adrena

Which adrena would be best for 3/16- 3/8oz jig/trigs but could also throw 1/4-3/8 swim jigs well. Exactly what I throw with my 6'11M+ along with weightless soft plastics and some topwaters. Been really enjoying this rod, but i like it best with 1/4 jigs (swimming or casting). Same here, I see the 6...

Re: Last chance at a 72H Hyuga

The 72H is a wonderful rod and If I had the money I’d buy a spare in a heartbeat. It does so much stuff well, I can go from throwing frog, to a s-waiver 186, a 5 inch paddle tail, and all of them feel like the rod was made for it. My sentiments exactly. I'm used to the suprising versatility of Mega...

Re: Budget Sweet Spot... Casting Reels

While I have a few reels over the $200 mark, I have been on a an older Daiwa buying kick of late. I picked up an Alphas Finesse Custom for like $115 shipped and honestly like it more than the $200 NIB SV105s I got earlier in the year. Same thing with a used PX68 I got for just under $200. I think I...

Re: Can we talk Alpha for a second

If I’m correct the TD Advantage is the same platform as the alpha. Sorry but you are not correct. Different platforms. Different spool widths and diameters. The gears might be interchangeable as some other parts but I'm not sure which. There is the odd Alphas 150, which is a huge reel that iirc is ...

I used a small dab of Loc-tite Blue on a screw, the knob end cap reacted in a way I’ve never seen before. It soften it, almost like a plastic worm from the old days.
Working on photo
Weird, what kind of endcap was it?
