Re: Anyone use the new ANT 100hg

Can any one tell me what platform the Antares reels are built off of? I wasn't sure if it was off the Chornarch D / Exscence D platform or not? :-k It probably is built off of a platform exclusively for that reel but I am trying to get an idea of how the reel would palm.

Re: Smith Optics, anyone have experience?

Sorry to hear about this. Seems like a product to stay away from as the customer support doesn't seem to be there.

Re: Aldebaran BFS XG Limited. Keep or Sell?

If you don't plan on fishing it and it isn't a shelf queen you might as well sell it for what you can and use the funds to get somethings that fits you. With Black Friday and Christmas around the corner having a good $300+ on hand would be nice.

That is stunning. Would match nicely to a Dobyns DX rod. Thanks for the photos!

Re: Is it Daiwa, Shimano, or someone else?

Right now I have even numbers of Daiwa and Shimano casting reels. Spinning is almost all Shimano. Not sure what way it will tip come this off season.

Re: New Fuego Baitcaster

Retail in the US for the Alpahs SV 105 is around $269. From Japan they seem to be around $200 give or take, though I paid about $185 for mine shipped and had it in 3 days.

Envy?

Forgive me if this has been discussed already somewhere, but are there any plans to re-do the Envy line of rods like the Omen? Considering getting one over the winter but if a new rod will be released within the next 3-6 months I would rather wait.

Thanks for your reply!

Re: Furthest Casting LP baitcaster?

My experience is biased towards Shimano. I will say that my ANT100, ANTHG, and Calais CL200 are vey long casters. They are head to head with distance for me. Trouble is the ergo on the new Antares has always bothered me so they are on fleabay now. So I guess the CL200 is my longest casting reel. De...

Re: Furthest Casting LP baitcaster?

Anything that Ian Shields touches  . But seriously, he just finished a Tdz 103 for me and this thing is nuts. I have a deep SV spool in it and it just flat gets after it. Light, heavy, doesn't matter. It just wants to go to work. I'm very curious how the Daiwa Sv103 will cast. I'm contemplatin...

I ship using UPS. Always pack the rod carefully myself.

Sounds to me like you need more reels! Thinking one gloss black to lead and a good dozen in pearl or some sort of gloss white. Use the force!

Re: Aldebaran, Metanium or Core?

Lightly used cores can be found for well under $300. I have seen many with just a few small imperfections go for $250 or less. The Scorpion 1000xt and Chornarch 50E often show up for under $170 lightly used. Very similar to the Core. Differences more or less can be found in the gear ratio, weight of...

Re: Furthest Casting LP baitcaster?

Thanks AB, I may just pick the purple spool... why b/c it will match the MX 8.1's purple parts! :)
