Re: A source for 4x7x2.5mm bearings?
Wow, that's crazy! Knob bearings I just installed, I didn't flush them or anything, as long as they felt smooth before installation. The metal shields bearings I've gotten from them in the past have all had removable shields. The rubber shields on the Revolutions were also removable. I still have s...

Re: A source for 4x7x2.5mm bearings?
I'm the OP and didn't order them from avidrc as the metal bearings don't appear to have removable shields. They look to be the same as the gritty ones I bought from ebay and presumably the same from some manufacturer in China. I could have sworn my original bulk order of bearings in 4x7x2.5mm had r...

Re: A source for 4x7x2.5mm bearings?
I don't know what you guys clean your bearings with but I use naphtha and an ultrasonic cleaner. Well I bought 30 bearings of all different sizes from Avid RC for the $1 each, and I was very disappointed. When I got the bearings they seemed fine. I took the bearings and put them in naphtha and in th...

Grease on Gears
So I am curious on what most guys do. When you put grease on your gears. Do you put grease only on the pinion gear and let it work its way around the main gear or do you put grease on the main gear and let that work its way around the pinion gear? Maybe you put grease on both. Is there a right or wr...

Re: Painting Baitcasting Reels
If they got it in, then it has to somehow come out. The questions was if it was glued in, then how much force would be needed to get it out without cracking or distorting the side plate. Anyway, I got it out with out any damage to the side plate. The tricky part is over. Now on to painting which wil...

Re: Painting Baitcasting Reels
I will. I have high hopes and really pumped up about getting some reels painted. I still have to get a paint booth and some other things. This will be a work in progress.

Re: Painting Baitcasting Reels
Well, after several failed attempts, I got the bearing out of my side plate. Thank You Slazmo. After lightly trying to tap it out with a socket and a plastic ended hammer, I guess the bearing needed a little more persuasion. I took the same socket and a metal hammer and slowly started to hit it a li...

Painting Baitcasting Reels
So I am going to paint some ABU Revo Premiers Gen 1 and 2, and if I recall correctly, if your anti-reverse bearing goes out, you have to replace the whole side plate. I believe they are not removable. With that said, I tried to tap the anti-reverse bearing out of the side plate and it doesn't seem l...

I try to take as many pics on a new reel I clean as possible. Sometimes I just don't take the pics I need. It's always like that when you think it is simple. Out of curiosity do you know roughly what year the Lews BB-1GL was made?

tincanary,
I read your post and tried it. Thank you very much. You hit the nail on the head and it worked for me. Your explanation was right on. I should have taken more pics before I disassembled that gear set. Thanks Again for your time and assistance.

Re-assembling anti-reverse claw on Lews Speed Spool BB-1LG Reel
I am stumped on this one. I took apart a Lews BB-1LG for a friend to clean. If you see pic 2 you can see the anti-reverse claw neatly tucked in at the bottom of the pic (this pic was taken before I un-assembled it). After I cleaned and started to re-assemble it (See pic 3) I cannot get the anti- rev...

Re: Gloss finish to mat finish/powder coat
If it is spinner blades you can use some 2000 grit wet sand and that should dull it. If you are trying to do this to jigs, I have used matte clear powder paint with some success. Lastly, you can just strip the jigs and powder paint them flat black.
