Re: New Chatterbait
I threw that first picture of the cut up Barlow's head in to show how they did their original heads. "Smalljaw" is a lure builder that uses this forum and he suggested a few years ago on one of our threads that it is from a Do-It Sparkie jig mold. They use a 4/0 Mustad spinner bait hook and a doubl...

Re: New Chatterbait
Touching on the contact with the head topic. I was wondering with all the turbulance and noise created from just the blade and body, is it a bass thing that the extra noise is needed for? I have been using chatterbaits off and on for pike and muskie and they have no problems zeroing in on them with...

Re: New Chatterbait
360 degree twist. Mike, I like this design except for the fact the bend radius and the spinner bait head design make it so the blade will not contact the jig when vibrating on the retrieve. I personally feel this is an important part of a good chatter bait, i want to see the paint knocked off the h...

Re: New Chatterbait
Half price goes to Z Man, half goes to Evergreen, customers pay double. Yup. That sounds about dead on for a jig with a chatterbait blade attached to it. They can spin the quality thing all they want , but anybody with a Do-it mold and sensible choices in componants can make something just as nice,...

Re: My comments on some new to me braids
Update: Doing some frogging last night, first fish that blows up on my frog, set the hook with fx2 60lb and POW! Snap the line on a hook set, line broke in the reel, the line was still floating and hand lined it in, turned out to be a 15 incher. So i have 200 yards of fx2 for sale if anyone wants it...

My comments on some new to me braids
Up until this year i have always used power pro and suffix 832, i have always preferred the suffix to PP. This season got my hands on some 20lb seaguar smack down, 55 lb samurai, and 65 lb FX2. the 20lb went on my spinning reel, the 55lb went on a buzzbait/buzz toad rod, and 65 on my frogging setup....

Parts for Curado 201IHG????
I have had my 201IHG for two years now and last year it started to make a pretty annoying winding noise, is isn't the breaks on the drum as i have oiled that many times and it doesn't go away. I have tore the reel down several times, cleaned every inch of it and it still makes the noise. The last ti...

Re: Ardent Apex Series
All i have ever owned is Shimano, but I can get these at 50% off....worth a shot i guess. Interesting, never heard of haibo. Gotta imagine somewhere along the line of function, quality, durability, or weight these have to fall short of what i'm used to but for that price point and warranty it is har...

Ardent Apex Series
Anyone out there have experience with these? Extremely positive reviews on TWH, however we all know how some of those get generated. 3 year warranty is impressive. I looked at ardent reels back 6 years ago or so and i wasn't impressed, but it looks like they have stepped up their game.

Best tube jig
Hey guys, I fish Sturgeon bay or big bay de noc at least once a year and the smallmouth up there eat tubes like it's their job. I'm wondering if anyone has a tube jig head they really recommend? i fish my tubes on MH bait casting gear as i get way better hook up ratio. I'm looking for jigs mainly in...

Re: Dobyns Savy vs St. Croix Avid or Premier
I much prefer my avid over my savvy for sensitivity, savvy is maybe balanced a bit better but for pitching i always choose the avid. I have relegated my savvy's for moving baits only (swim jigs, chatter baits, buzz baits ect) due to lack of sensitivity. Champions are much better in this department.
