Re: St. Croix stagnating?

I'm in the UK and still in the EU for a few more minutes. They sell them here and are fairly popular as a premium brand. They are very popular in Holland too. I imagine they're less popular in Germany as they don't make many suitable longer rods, which are more commonly used in countries with limite...

Re: St. Croix stagnating?

I hate SK reel seats, especially on casting rods. The blank flexes and the baitcaster feels loose in the seat. Dumb design.

Just get a larger bottle of the stuff, makes it less painful.

Re: reel deal

Now you've got a reel the most important thing is to wash it with fresh water every time you use it in the salt as soon as you get home, otherwise you'll be moaning about how rubbish the reel is in a few months. Applies to all models and brands.

Re: Suggest a hook whose tip won’t curl

Any pattern with a slightly in turned point will be better protected, so less prone to getting the tip bent, but if you're snagging in rocks or timber it's going to happen. Carry hook file and you can touch them up and straighten the point in a couple of strokes.

Re: Info needed on Tailwalk rods.

I bought a tailwalk fulrange CC MH casting for my air travel trips. Didn't think too much of it when I flexed it at home, but on the water it performed much better than I expected. I also have a light power fullrange CC spinning rod, which is perfectly OK, but a very mid range blank, not a crisp hig...

Re: Daiwa Steez Air 2020

28mm spool? Not sure why they're showing guys flipping full sized looking baits in the video, doesn't sound like the ideal use for a very finesse reel. Not sure where Daiwa are going with this one. How come they don't do the carbon handles and fancy paddles they used to do on some of their more extr...

Re: Light braid

I like and use spiderwire smooth 8 in 0.10 and 0.12 and it is very good. Also use ygk g soul egi metal in pe 0.4 and 0.6. Very good for very fine stuff but a bit noisier as it's a 4 strand.

The Croix LE ML 76 (and others) have a great blank, but horribly uncomfortable reel seat in my hands which is too bad because I really like the rods otherwise.
Absolutely. The St Croix handle design department need a swift kick in the 'nads. I had to replace mine.

Re: Pixy vs alphas bfs reel

I'm not sure, I think the version 1, the shallower version? Karl? I have the version 2. I think version 1 was a bit deeper. To this day my favourite spool is the version 2 KTF nothing comes close so far. Mr. Sawamura hit a sweet spot with that Alphas. The kosugi works is a great all round finesse s...

Re: Pixy vs alphas bfs reel

I would say they're pretty similar based on my experience, but that KTF was really sweet. Depends how much you're prepared to pay for a very minor improvement. The cosugi is 90% as good as the KTF from my experience.

45m of 6 or 8lb mono is going to limit it's usefulness. Air stream custom type line capacity.
