I have been kinda looking at the ML/MF casting rod, might make a cool BFS rod. I was also thinking about going to with Recoil Guides and a spiral wrap just to make sure that I can never sell it

But, built like I would want it turns it into a ~$600 rod, so I think I will remain "kinda looking".

I have a sv103 w/ 1016sv spool on my FMJ and love it, it casts everything I have tried well.

I am curious, do you know the total weight of your 1/2jig+trailer? I have thrown a ~1oz glide bait on my FMJ but that is as high as I have pushed it.

Do you fish those things with a float or just the head and plastic? Because of the pickerel issues you mentioned I can never make myself go below 4-6lb mono, but have yet to find a rod that will cast just the head/plastic very well with such "heavy" line.

I had one that would sit just under the surface and would very very slowly float up on the pause. But I believe Cal is correct, they are supposed to slow-sink.

They are great lures, but I would gladly pay a little more for better QC.

Give a light t-tig a try before you give up on the rod. Get a soft 6" worm like a Producto or a Fat Robo, rig it with a thin-wire 2/0 hook and like an 1/8oz sinker. If it's anything like the old style GLXs then I think you will be pleasantly surprised.
