I've never had any problems with it in weeds but I believe it's designed more for open water. I wrap some tiny heat shrink around the legs to keep those from getting caught in the hooks.

My all time favorite and what I wear and reccomend is Stormr. It's pricier but you get what you pay for. My Stormr gear has already paid for itself many times over. Tough weather conditions bring it on!

I don't know much about those models but passing a leader knot is pretty hard on micro guide rods. You also have to be very careful to have little to no tag end. I believe it was all current models available through the current Metanium not including discontinued models. It wasn't a video it was a group of guys in the fishing industry I believe that rep for Shimano.

Pretty much what Mattman said popping blanks have more of a moderate taper and are generally designed for fishing inshore live bait underneath popping corks. They also have heavier popping blanks for offshore and bigger species, however they are usually used with topwater poppers and stick baits.
