The spool engages with the drive shaft through the spool pin. You should replace the pin. Order at The Tackle Trap.

I just place spools in tackle boxes. I line the spaces with foam sheeting just for peace of mind and keep bearings clips and pins together with a mini zip lock bags in with the spool.

Have not fished both gen 1 and gen 2 rods. I'm using the ENVY BLACK CRANKENSTEIN 7' 11" now for my deep dive work. I have gone through several deep crank rods and this one is great. Light, strong, good parabolic action. I can work all day with this and not feel overworked.

Plasti Dip Spray is a great reel saver. Mask off, spray a few coats. It protects, last a long time, has a good rubber feel on the palm plate and just peels off when you want to remove.
