Re: Ceramic bearings in MLF and Elite anglers reels?
There's a few reel tuners on here that have said pros have sent them their reels to be cleaned and upgraded. With how much these guys tinker and alter their baits /w different size hooks/feathers/weights/custom paints/ whatever, I think it's almost all but certain they do any upgrade they deem neces...

Re: TDZ 103ml Type r+ rough retrieve?
Got a 7:1 kit for the reel today from masterbass
put everything in where it should be and the reel works flawlessly. Old set of gears must have been bad.

Re: TDZ 103ml Type r+ rough retrieve?
The cause of the problem is that the 103ML R+'s are known to be junk. The best solution is to just get rid of it. It's probably not worth more than $40, but I'm feeling generous today, so I'll go $50.  I know the addiction. I am as of late trying to switch all my reels to the zillion...

Re: TDZ 103ml Type r+ rough retrieve?
UPDATE: Reel has been fixed...temporarily at least. So i found a post from a few years back about the same washer I've been thinking about giving somebody problems installing their steez gears. For those of you familiar /w working on a TD-Z you will recognize the following spacer. It's located under...

Re: TDZ 103ml Type r+ rough retrieve?
If i cannot figure this out today, I'll drop you a PM for a set. I just don't want to accept the fact that it's the gears. I can press down on the drive shaft and main gear with the handle side plate off and the gears seem smooth. once i put the handle plate on, it turns into a coffee grinder. I did...

Re: TDZ 103ml Type r+ rough retrieve?
the retrieve is like a coffee grinder. every single turn of the handle feels "grindy" which would mean that every spot on the gears is bad i think? maybe not. seems the gear sets could be out of stock for a while and i'm hoping somebody knows the fix to this.

Re: TDZ 103ml Type r+ rough retrieve?
Thanks for the reply. They are worse under load. I can do the whole free spool test and the spool spins flawlessly w/o any resistance. Pitching/casting is the same. Perfect. Reeling up slack line you can kind of feel it but any sort of weight, it's very noticeable throughout the entire retrieve. It ...

TDZ 103ml Type r+ rough retrieve?
Hey guys, Anybody know of a known issue for this reel and its retrieve? I have tore down the reel twice and for the life of me cannot figure out the issue. All the bearings seem to be good. The spool bearings are perfect. I've flushed every single one in the reel twice. the retrieve just feels like ...

Re: Heavy Jig Rod Recommendation
DX745 is not a rod i'd feel comfortable /w throwing 1oz jigs let alone 1.5oz. it could probably throw them but it would feel overworked. Haven't used the NRX895. I have the 894. Best jig rod i've ever used for 3/8-3/4. I think the rod could handle 1oz but i've honestly never tried. i almost always u...
