Re: Shimano Loomis Conquest rods

"the only problem I have had is the reel seat broke twice in the early stages due to the hard and fast hits from large Barramundi, I could imagine similar torque when you guys and gals are horsing big bass to the boat." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barramundi I'd gladly break a reel seat or two if...

Re: Shimano Loomis Conquest rods

I know my choices are a bit out there, the reel seat issue is purely based on those first 2 failures, with the conquest seat looking very similar it makes me nervous, would probably go with a PTS seat instead next time ;) , I have been using n Edge Black Widow ISR 666 for a year or so and oh man, is...

Re: Have you ever broke the plastic gearing of the worm gear?

The plastic idle gears on levelwind reels is an intentional strip point for if and when that line guide gets stuck or jammed to avoid catastrophic failure of the rest of the drive train, the plastic worm gear however is a relatively new design to improve levelwind performance hey? I do see worm gear...

Re: Shimano Loomis Conquest rods

Well I’d really like to pull the trigger on a Conquest 6’6” mh but I really do think they could have made a few improvements to perfect this flagship model. I have owned and used extensively a NRX 803c JWR as my rubber swimbait rod for 4 Years or so and enjoy it, the only problem I have had is the r...

Tatula TW SV vs Curado 70hg

I know it may look like a Daiwa vs Shimano post but I'd really like to know the barebones unbiased performance difference between these 2 reels. Has anyone undertaken this exercise yet?

Re: Concept Z bearings

Not sure anyone but the manufacturer knows at this stage mate, here's hoping that a) they're the goods and b)they come in standard metric sizes to suit other reels.

Re: Gloomis rod above NRX????!!!!!

Well it will be the first rod I know of wearing the big mans moniker that will have carbon braiding for support, not that he has his finger in this pie anymore, they don't mention whether this rod has nano resin and 10% lighter than NRX! Nice work! I'm currently using an edge black widow casting rod...

Re: 13 Fishing Concept Z

Being a saltwater fisherman I'm pretty excited about a corrosion free bearing alternative with comparable performance, the one on the spool there looks like it might be a 5x11x4, presuming they come in standard metric sizes. The bit that gets me is going to be wear and durability between the spigot/...

Re: Stradic FK line roller

Tip for you FOC. FK line roller in the bin - you'll never get a new bearing to fit - because its press fit in with plastic shims etc. Buy a FI Stella line roller complete with bearing (and those barrel spacers they use), when that bearing kicks the bucket, carefully warm the line roller and punch t...

Stradic FK line roller

Has anyone else noticed the line roller on this reel is non-serviceable when it comes to changing out the bearing, it appears to be pressed in requiring total change of the line roller assembly when the bearing goes ](*,) . Most of my work is in the salt here in oz so I usually bush or ceramic chang...
