Rods/reels on a yak
Im considering getting a nice kayak while I save up for another nice all welded jon. I hate luxury debt so it will take a bit to save up that kinda cheese. Like most around here, I fish with higher end rods and reels. My biggest fear besides actually losing gear, is the thought of gear getting a roy...

Re: Reeling Demographics... are you a righty or lefty
Right handed and use RH reels. I have more motor skills with my right hand therefor I feel more comfortable reeling with my right hand. Only downfall for me is I have actually bent aftermarket handle grip posts on hard hooksets from a bad habit of using my right hand as main power source while still...

Re: Scratches on reel
I occasionally wonder if they will market something to prevent the rash. To protect the paint while in use like a coating of some sort similar to how we use cork sealer now.

Are phenix rods underpowered
I have always stayed clear of phenix due to reading many times that they dont have good hook setting power power. Is this true? If so are they slower or weaker?

Re: WHAT NEW ROD IS DAVE MERCER TESTING?!
My guess is the crucial replacement. If I were a betting man and hadnt always already spent my money on tackle and such, i would bet that the crucial sales numbers arent to exciting for shimano right now. Its time they either fix it or pull it. It had no place in the same market as the zodias beside...

Re: MGL jdm vs usdm
I was kinda thinking the same thing. The price difference of $100 alone for a slightly deeper spool...why?

MGL jdm vs usdm
Wonder if there are any differences and if they are distinguisable from one another. I have two jdm MGL still in the box. Think I paid 300 a pop for them shipped. Cant imagine paying 419 for the same reel. I have the same question about the Alde HG. I have one I got from japan. Are there any differe...

Re: Feel Free Lure 11.5 Kayak
I was in a local yak draler this weekend who told me they stopped carrying them due to poor feedback from customers. They look great and have a nice padded standing area but personally Im not going to chance it with their shakey reputation

Re: Rods and reels getting wet?
Thanks for the swift replies guys. Do you guys find yourself dunking your cork handles in the water? I keep witnessing people doing that while watching kayak bassin type you tube videos. As far as the boat, it would be a toss up at this point being in the class of a 12-13 foot boat by a good manufac...

Rods and reels getting wet?
I am dabbling in the idea of starting to fish out of a kayak. I am active army and was forced to sell my g3 jon about 2 years ago. I miss that boat so much. Had it rigged with the latest and greatest electronics, gps trolling motor ect. Since I have been bank bound which leaves me not fishing much. ...

Re: Skipping settings vbs vs mag brake vs SV spools
Probably the best thing you could do is give the reels a good cleaning, flush the bearings, and get yourself situated on the bank of a pond with a good flat bank. Spend a few hours getting to understand the characteristics of all the different brake settings. It may take some time but I bet it would...
