Re: Nrx 853c?

In addition to what has already been mentioned, the 853 NRX is a very good walking bait and jerk bait rod if you run mono. I just picked up a few spoons and poppers but haven’t fished them yet as we are just loosing Ice! That’s great to know cause I wasn’t sure what rod to throw them on! I thought ...

Re: Nrx 853c?

I have the GLX version of the 853c and really like it. I don't think it's the most versatile rod there is but it excels at certain things. I use it for finesse jigs mostly (3/8th oz ball heads), works great. I also think it works great for light t-rigs and keitechs/underspins. I personally don't lo...

Re: Nrx 853c?

No matter what, you are not going to hate the 853. If this will be your first NRX then you are in for a treat. The 853 isn't a bad rod, its just not as versatile as the 893 or 873. Power wise the 853 and 893 are about the same with the 873 being the next step up in power compared to the 853 and 893...

Re: Nrx 853c?

Having had both the 853 and 893 nrx rods my vote is one or the other. Both sticks have their merit but one doesn't really do much that the other cant do. They are different sticks but the length is really the biggest difference between the two rods. If I was wanting to mostly pitch/skip and sling a...

Re: Nrx 853c?

I use my 853C for 5” Senkos, 1/4oz trigs, 1/4oz shakey heads, up to 3/8oz jigs in open water, etc. It does these things so well I see no need for an 893. Balance is good enough as is with a 13 Met, whereas the 893 would likely need some weight added to the butt similar to what my 873 requires. For ...

Re: Nrx 853c?

just curious, where are the good deals on new NRX can be found? Looks like most of the well known online retails are not offering any discounts recently. It was a store in Canada, I pulled in on my way home from purchasing a boat and the store was being bought out by a larger franchise store that d...

Re: Nrx 853c?

If you value balance you’ll find it superior to the 893, if not you’ll appreciate the 893’s length. I’ve owned both I couldn’t feel as comfortable fishing the 893 or 894 because they’re so tip heavy. I found the 853 to be a fantastic rod. If I wanted a 7’6 ish jig rod I would personally go GLX or C...

Re: Nrx 853c?

I have one and have struggled to find a niche for it - I always have the 893/894 rigged so the 853 is kinda in limbo. Oddly enough, there's a review on YT where the guy was disapointed in it's peformance as a jig rod but found it excelled as a spinnerbait rod. Kinday spendy to dedicate it to a spin...

Re: Nrx 853c?

Sell it if you need the money because once you fish it you'll be getting rid of that Helium. Jigs, t-rigs, spinnerbaits, great soft jerkbait rod, senkos, and a dynamite jig skipping rod around docks and low lying cover...light tip but can steer any fish away from trouble. I personally love that rod...

Nrx 853c?

So made an impulse purchase today on an nrx 853c. I was actually in the market for either the 893c or 852s, but stumbled across this one and it was a wicked deal so purchased it without thinking. Wondering what uses other then jigs would this rod be good for. I have a glx 894c as my primary jig rod ...

Re: Best Squarebill rod

Been using the imx pro 845c cbr and absolutely love it! Weight and balance is superb, sensitivity is excellent, and when I hook up I haven’t lost a fish yet! Love fishing that rod

Re: Shimano Expride 7’ light+ thoughts

I don’t know much about the 820 dsr as I couldn’t find one for the life of me when shopping around so went with the 822s dsr. This light+ feels wicked. Feels like it has good power, felt comparable to most ML, but nice soft tip! I’m real excited to give it a go!

Re: Shimano vs daiwa spinning reel for new rod!

the only thing i would watch with daiwa is i believe some of their newer spinning reels no longer have a bearing in the line roller. its a bushing now. The stradic of course, has a ball bearing here. the last TT review of a daiwa spinning reel noted issues with line twist, and daiwa used to be amaz...

Re: Shimano Expride 7’ light+ thoughts

I've been fishing the 7' light + and use it mainly for lighter finesse techniques (1/4 and under). Very impressed with it in terms of lightness and sensitivity. I think you'll be happy with it. Thank you. I’m very excited about this rod, it just felt right in the hand. It’s so increadibly light. I ...

Shimano vs daiwa spinning reel for new rod!

I picked up a Shimano Expride 7’ light+ this afternoon and now need to outfit it with a reel! Main purpose will be a perch rod for about a months time while waiting for bass season to kick start, then my ned rig rod during bass and small finesse trd tubes and other finesse applications. I throw a c...
