Re: BFS rod question

First off, welcome to the forum. Glad you joined us. And yes, a kokanee rod would make a nice bfs rod. Like you said, it is longer than most bfs rods and is moderate action, perfect for your intended use. Just be sure you pick one that is graphite. Most are glass and flex all the way to the reel sea...

Hard to say. All the stores that had them have slowly went out of stock and none have replenished that I know of. Might be awhile.....

Re: UL Reel Spool's "LIP" - Shimano vs Daiwa

.....the same casting distance from Shimano spools (presumably the same size) with a thin lip as he did with those having a tapered lip. That suggests there's no practical difference. Yes, both reels were Symetre 2500 size reels(FI and FJ series), both used with 20# 832 braid. Not sure about the 10...

These are a hair over 2" including the lip. The body itself is just over 1 3/8".

Re: Well looky what I found ...

I also found several of the Cotton Cordell UL C.C. Shad lures at my local Wallyworld in that same anonymous Pradco box. They are awesome little lures that save me from the "skunk" on a regular basis.

Nope, It is a Daiwa Aird 100L Light Game Concept that has been converted over to magnetic brakes.
Gotcha, so you and I sort of have the same thing going....I'll post a pic in a few.

Re: UL Reel Spool's "LIP" - Shimano vs Daiwa

Shimano calls that their "Propulsion Line Management". The reels I've owned pre- and post-"propulsion" had similar casting distances. Okuma tapered the edges of their spools in a similar fashion several yrs before Shimano did it. I always thought it was just hype, the same way they 'invented' the "X...

Re: New Dobyn's Series

I haven't noticed any torque or twist with the spiral-wrapped rod I have. It is very accurate, likely because it was custom-built and spined correctly. I also wouldnt think a rod would be inaccurate because it is missing 1 or 2 guides. However, it would affect the rod differently due to where the gu...

Re: New Dobyn's Series

“because I feel like I’m fishing with two arm casts on” it’s clumsy, heavy and casts inaccurately. I'm sorry, but a rod simply does not cast inaccurately. It may be harder for you to cast versus other rods... but a rod does not cast inaccurately. That's entirely false. Unless it somehow loads diffe...
