Are there any differences in these reels? I realize the 31 model is the JDM version, but are there other slight differences?

Really...Apparently you didn't do your homework before you responded. The Lamiglass reference was way back when Dobyn's first started making rods.

I've read here on TT that reels with brass main gears tend to be a tad smoother than reels with aluminum gears, but the brass gears add weight. Has the Steez always used an aluminum main gear? If this is true, I'm assuming Daiwa does this to keep the weight down.

Does anyone know what type of gears (brass vs aluminum) are going to be in these new reels?

I've never been a huge fan of any of the Tatula's. Daiwa's older reels are my favorites. I think Daiwa should bring the Pixy back with a SV spool and also make it so that you can customize it with after market parts.
