Re: Morning or Evening
used to get up at 4 to goto work so getting up a little early is no problem for me. I usually plan to fish a couple of hours in the dark and head for home around 7or 8. The only problem is the drunks and strange people who park on the ramp. You never really know who will be there and an ocasional co...

Re: My hunk of junk kayak
thanks for the post. I was looking at that model but didnt know if it was to small. My son has an ocean which is nice. You dont get wet and it handles the waves good. I bought my 2 grandsons job lot 12' sot fishing kayaks. They arent to bad either and weigh a little less. Weighing in around 200lbs I...

Re: Basic Rod + Braid > High end rod + fluro
I use braid on all my set ups. Most of my rods run between 150 and 250, nothing really high end. With the braid you can feel everything. After a little use you know the difference between all the cover and structure. Cranking thru matts and weeds is one of my favorite techniques. The braid helps wit...

Re: Broken hook on treble
If your still catching fish I would leave it be. For some reason it seems like the bottom hook on the treble always break off. I have 2 buzzjets, a roumba ,a baby minus one, and 2 kvd 2.5s with the bottom hook broke off. You would be amazed how they go thru heavy weeds. I'm almost tempted to cut tha...

Re: Equipment Related Pet Peeves
Peeps that fish a rod with the plastic still on their cork rod grips    Always tempted to ask for a cast and do some ripping... just noticed that my swimbait rod still has the plastic on the cork forgrip. In my defence I have never touched the forgrip with that rod. Two hands on t...

original Fuego 3000 spinning
just wondering how this spinning reel stacks up against the spinning reels of today. Bought one when they first came out. Put it on an old green blank legend elite 7' ml. Bought a TDZ and a red Pixy and that was it for spinning reels.Think I used it only once. With some of the new techniques figured...

Re: longest running hardest working reel
millionare cvz 203 la...think i bought it in 2001. In 2005 I started throwing swimbaits on it which i threw 90% of the time. I've only replaced the AR bearing probably due to lack of maintenance. Still has the oorigional drag. Built like a tank.

Re: Best wake cranks?
Have to agree on the IMA ROUMBA. Love fishing the black one on those flat calm nights. A slow steady crank with a twitch of the rod once in a while, very deadly.

Re: Daiwa upgrades questions
I also have the zillion type r and would be interested in any upgrades that people have done. One that I would be interested in would be the Pe worm gear since I only use braid on it. Tackle trap is selling it. Any else good out there? thanks

high speed level wind upgrade
I have a zillion tye r and a 50th anniversity zillion that I use braid on. Once in a while I get that dreaded backiash. Would switching to a high speed levelwind make much of a differance? Also would it affect the casting distance? If the the line was spaced out more on the spool it would seem you w...

shipping reels
Looking to send my reels out to be serviced and upgraded. I have a tdz, red pixy, 2 zillion type r"s, 2 t 3"s and a millionare cvz. Not the best line up but it took me a long time to get and for my needs a well rounded group. Any suggests about how to ship them and whether to use usps or not. Also w...

sv 103 spool
I see the Tackle Trap has this spool for sale. Says it will drop into a TDZ 103. I have the 103 hvla with the flipping switch. Will it fit into this reel too? What improvements could I expect with the sv 103 spool over the stock spool ? More control and distance ? With the cleaning service they have...
