Re: How do the top Combos of yesteryear compare to what is available today?

A lot of things made during the golden era of JDM tackle still blow away a lot of today’s cheapened crap.

Re: Daiwa Spool

Not all 34 mm spools will fit with a direct swap. Some may require a mod or two. I don’t believe the older Daiwa Type R, Type R+ or Steez 103 spools will fit without a mod of some sort if I recall from trying it years ago. The Orange SV100 is a great spool in there as are the SV1012 and 1016. Most a...

Re: Help me unbox and prepare the right way with new reels

Fish them stock first. Then if you feel performance is lacking I would flush and lightly oil the spool bearings. If the gears feel dry add some more grease to them. If they feel overgreased clean them and regrease then appropriately.

Most of the common reasons: 1. To fund something else 2. They got bored with it 3. Selling to “upgrade” to a newer model 4. Health issues 5. Getting out of fishing/collecting I get all that, but the questions remains, why is there a disproportionate amount of Daiwas in the Classifieds? Are you sayi...

No sadly. The 6:3 is limited to 6:3 only. The 7:1 can take the higher ratio gears

Re: What is your primary line setup?

With the exception of frogs, all casting gear is mono or floro or copoly only with none of this braid to a leader crap.

For spinning I much prefer braid to a leader for casting and line management. Some of mine have mono or floro but not many.

Re: Is the OG Zillion dead ?

Very much alive! Those were tank reels. A CF handle, lighter knobs etc can shave some weight. They are smooth and powerful and not cheaply made. All aluminum and quality parts. They can take a beating and come back strong. Lots of colors, limited variants, spools, tuning parts etc. If you are on the...
