Re: What Fluorocarbon should I buy?
The reason I want to try an all fluoro setup is that if there is significant crosswind I tend to completely lose contact with my baits. I also have to this day never caught a fish on a wacky rigged senko-style bait and I'm guessing (hoping) that it is because I have no ability to feel the bite on s...

Re: Daiwa tournament ss handle swap
Sorry I don't know about a handle.
Those reels do cast a little farther. That design is from 1989. Too bad they can't upgrade them with instant anti-reverse and balanced rotor.

Re: Revo STX spinning reel
The Revos are state of the art. That said, I don't know if they would last as long as a made in Japan reel. I did have a Pflueger Patriarch...... had trouble with a shim breaking in the first two years, fixed it myself. Caught over 1,000 bass on it up to 10lbs. until I lost it after 4 years. Other t...

Re: Daiwa 2000 vs. 2500 sized reels
I'd go with the lightest/smallest size that has enough line capacity.
However, if there is no more than .4 ounces difference in the weight, I'd go with the larger reel/larger spool for less memory/line twist.

Re: Beware of Shimano "Warranty"
Some repair places don't like to service something that's been worked on by a customer. That said, it's just a reel, not a Lamborghini, they should have looked at it. Heck, years ago, I had a part fall off a Daiwa reel on the water, and with one phone call, Daiwa sent me a replacement part for free....

Re: 4.8:1 vs 6.0:1 Spinning Reels
Reels with lighter rotating parts (especially Orra and Revos), or lower gear ratios tend to be smoother. duel bearings under the rotor, like some Daiwa and Pure Fishing reels have may also play a part in smoothness. Some of those high gear ratio reels are like a coffee grinder  But most people ...

I like the Pflueger Patriarch and the Revo series. The made in China reels are getting better and they are lighter on the wallet.

- Some are lighter - especially anything porous like EVA or cork.
- Some are more comfortable than others.

Okuma Inspira Spinning Reel (2015 model)
Okuma Inspira Spinning Reel (2015 model) I was just looking at this new reel, it just came out late last year.... it looks like a good budget reel for under $80.00 - Rigid body and rotor - similar to an all metal reel? - ISX-30B - 7.4 oz. - low 5.0:1 gear ratio for smoothness (most people like high ...

Re: Flourocarbon coated mono or copolymer line
I keep waiting for a 10lb diameter flouro coated line with 30lb braid in the core. No stretch, sinking, abrasion resistance, slack line sensitivity...would the perfect bottom contact line. DaveJ - Either Stren or Berkley had a hollow braid with a mono center back in the 90's. I forget what it was c...

Re: Trilene 100% Fluorocarbon XL Professional Grade
- that is true, all most all the reels and rods are made in the Far East. - Yeah, don't kink your line. So, you have heard the term "knot strength", correct? - some lines are said to have better knot strength, some worse...... and fluoro is usually worse than mono. But what does it really mean? In t...

Re: Trilene 100% Fluorocarbon XL Professional Grade
A wise man once said, "People from your own town don't respect you". They like foreign products more around here, it's more exotic I guess. I'm a Pure Fishing fan boy....they have a huge catalog, their products are widely available, inexpensive, and I have more information on the lines. I'll probabl...
