Re: Megabass EMTF

I have not used the X7 version but to answer your other question, yes the XX EMTF can be used for deep cranks. Handles them just fine. Its what I was using before the Launcher was released.

Re: MB Flat Side Special uses???

Squarebills, spinnerbaits, bladed jigs, small plastic swimbaits, swimjigs, topwaters, buzz frogs in light cover, even some shakyheads etc in certain situations. Really your imagination might be the only limit. If it feels right for a technique I suggest you try it.

Re: Best swim jig rod?

As stated the best is subjective oerson to person but just messing around on the water I really like the way my Megabass Orochi XX Diablo Spec R performs. Just the right amount of tip and power for a 3/8-1/2oz swimjig.

Re: specs on new MB xx orochi rods now up

I hate to be the guy that asks that question, but I guess I will. Is MB still having cork issues with the Orochi XX line? Seems like every thread or review I read somebody is complaining about excessive cork filler used on the Orochi's. Yes I know fine/AAA cork is in short supply and across the boa...

Re: specs on new MB xx orochi rods now up

Wanted to give a quick update on teh Diablo Spec R. Been using it a lot this past week here on Lake Fork with a 3/8oz flipping jig with a fairly bulky trailer. Been flipping stumps in 2-8' of water and have landed fish up to 6lbs without a single issue at all. This rod is a joy to fish this techniqu...

Re: XX Flat Side Special Vs. Swingfire

Swingfire is not a soft noodle rod at all. I would say 1/4oz - 3/4oz shallow to mid crank rod. Nice lively tip with a moderate action and stout butt comparable to a 704CB? That is why I wanted to be clear the most if not all that have seen it at the shows I worked have loved it. I would not call it...

Re: Diablo Spec R or Extreme Mission or Envy Green

I would agree the DSR would not be my first choice with 3/4oz plus size baits. It can handle them but its just not the ideal scenario. Perhaps the Tour Versatile is another model that you may want to look into with that type of a weight rating you want to use.

Re: XX Flat Side Special Vs. Swingfire

Disclaimer in that I prefer a little stouter cranking rod than most. The Swingfire is a tad on the lighter side for me in that regard. I can see it fitting what the OP wants it for moreso than the FSS. I actually like the feel of the FSS better in regards to 1.5 sized squarebills and most topwaters ...

Re: specs on new MB xx orochi rods now up

Here is a link. http://tackletrap.com/index.php?main_page=popup_image&pID=5397 Early info dealers were provided listed the Diablo Spec-R as a medium fast taper, current information, and ours has been updated, rate it as a fast action. I haven't fished it yet, but have compared side by side with the...

Re: specs on new MB xx orochi rods now up

Big G, I think you might want to try and look at one. You might consider it close to what you are expecting. Even with the F5 designation MB still calls it a M/MH rod. Its not a broomstick by any means. Depending on what you want in a M rod it might fit that. It has an incredibly crisp feel. Its one...

Re: specs on new MB xx orochi rods now up

Mark, How does the Spec R compare to the EMTF? Is it truly a slower rod than the EMTF? I want to stress that so much of the feel of a rod is subjective from person to person but I did not feel like it's slower. Both are rated a fast action and to me it died not feel slower. I really need to catch s...

Re: specs on new MB xx orochi rods now up

From dealer information F5-72XX - Diablo Spec R 3/8-1oz fast 10-25lb Same here. I actually just got a Power Point presentation on the lineup and spec sheets in preparation for show season etc. I am betting someone confused the Tour Versatile with the EMTF. I also looked up all specs on TW, MB site ...
