Re: topwater/jerkbait combo.
Looks sharp! Just used my Rattle Viper the other day! You'll love it. I tossed a 3/8 lipless, shakey head, small sammy, 4" senko and a 110. It was all great! I have a Core 50 on it.

That's why they should have the Super Ultra Mega imported set up! Blue bird skies would turn cloudy and weep rain if Joe Blow were to whip out a wicked samurai stick!uljersey wrote:Besides, most people that don't know better are fishing bluebird sky days and give up the sport eventually altogether.

The DX743 and DX745 are a great one two punch! I have them and can cover a vast majority of fishing with them!

Or you can do what I do and tell people you are getting them on hotdogs. When I was in high school a friend and I were at a small lake fishing in his boat. He spent the first 20 minutes rigging up a small piece of a hot stick with some hooks...His first cast he sails it into some trees and ha...

Re: Fav jig trailer for pb&j jig ?
I have some Revenge PB&J jigs. I have some PB&J Paca Chunks I use on them. I first match the color of the skirt and if that doesn't work I go completely opposite like Chartreuse pumpkin or something similar...Come to think of it...I've had equally poor results either way!

Re: Quantum Tour spin reels.
That extra weight might come in handy on a 7'8" rod. I would still prefer a lighter reel and have to add some weight to the rod butt to balance it out. It will take less overall weight on the butt of the rod to balance it out than near the reel. If it's custom, have the builder add a balancer setup ...

This year I'm trying Trokar 3/0 and 4/0 on 4' and 5' Senko t-rigs. Trokar 1/0 and 2/0 wacky hooks for...well...wacky rigs!

Re: shimano reel knob choices
http://www.semperfi-tackle.com I've ordered 5 swept carbon fiber handles with different knobs from him in the last few months. They are great quality and have good prices. From the link above, there is a purple logo half way down the screen to enter the online store. Once there make sure the currenc...

Re: Float Tube vs Pontoon vs Kayak
I have a Fish Cat tube. I would consider a pontoon to be a better choice more often than not if I had to do it again. I ended up getting a tube for ease of use and portability. I used to have an old round style tube where you sat low in the water...it was hard to maneuver and slow...but it was bette...

Did you install them dry or use something like Cal's grease? I have Shimano reels and have been considering trying some Carbontex drags in a couple. I'm mot looking for maximum drag power...just the smoothest drag possible.

Re: classic discontinued topwater frogs
Not too old but discontinued...The Strike King Grass frog. Made from Strike Hyde Foam. Had a lot of luck with those. I remember watching Bill Dance use it. It was my first topwater...Still have a few new ones squirreled away.
There was a Pop'n Grass frog too...But I never had one of those.

Check out P-line CX Premium. It's thin diameter co-poly and has decent abrasion resistance. It has less memory than the CXX too.

Re: Do bass really mind line color?
I usually just try and trick myself. If I have a setup I think the fish want, I fish it thinking they want it! If I think they don't like the lure, I change it. I spent all this time, effort and money to get a $20 lure in front of them, (like I told my wife) there's no reason to be expecting more fr...
