Re: Deciding on a bfs moving bait rod (bass), any recommendations?

^this^ I was going to suggest the rods I use, either the MS-X 65L or 68ML. Since the former shines with 1/8 and the latter with 1/4, you might as well buy both for what one of those Megabass and Steez sticks will run you. Another thing, with those rods in particular you don't have to worry about whe...

Re: Trout spoon recommendations?

That post about casting these was supposed to be in the reels forum, but take from it what you will.

Re: BFS Calcutta Conquest - casting

So. Any pics any measurements? Ha! I posted in the wrong topic. At least it's not completely off topic over there... Here you go. Okay first off I must apologize and admit I was mistaken. It must've been a considerably heavier 3.5g spoon I was spooling it with. I had about 5 min this morning...

Re: Trout spoon recommendations?

Hate to say this, but check out the yapada spoons on all express. They have great finishes and use owner hooks. You'll save a ton of money. The ones by Daiwa are exorbitantly expensive by comparison. At least use the yapadas until you find all the snags. They say Lure Land on the packaging if that ...

Okay first off I must apologize and admit I was mistaken. It must've been a considerably heavier 3.5g spoon I was spooling it with. I had about 5 min this morning to make a few casts and walk off the distance in the front yard. There was a slight 2mph crosswind and high humidity which makes the air ...

Re: Trout spoon recommendations?

I just don't see how you deal with line twist with inline spinners. Even with a swivel it'll wreck my spool after a while. I suppose using braid helps, since line twist doesn't matter as much, but on a spinning reel I wound up with some crazy wind knots from throwing those.

Man, the way some people talk you'd think a fishing reel is about as complex as the James Webb Space Telescope.

Cardiff X 64 SUL B... The rod that I want to buy it...
Sure thing. I'm curious myself now. I'm not familiar with that rod, but it sounds like it will cast farther than mine. Mine is very much a bass rod.

Re: BFS Calcutta Conquest - casting

Okay, since I use a 6'4" UL rod, I'm sure that's a big part of it. A long area type casting rod, if there is such a thing, would do even better.

Either way, that reel is killer out of the box. It blows my mind sometimes how far it'll cast ul cranks like pins and snap beans.

Re: BFS Calcutta Conquest - casting

With Alphas ASC I get the same approx. 20 meter with 2-2.5 gram spoon. Perhaps a few meters more with the 2.5 gram spoon (similar with Conquest BFS w KTF). I am not the best caster in the world, but I doubt that many will be able to replicate 40 meter with a 2.5 gram spoon on a baitcasting setup......

Re: BFS Calcutta Conquest - casting

Wait, I might have been spooling it with a 3.5... I think there may have been several loops left with the 2.3. As soon as I get home tonight I'll tie on a 2.3g and test it. I'll have to just walk off the distance since there's 4# on it now and that offers 10 more meters. I don't want to lie to you s...

Re: What to do about chipped paint?

I just used some black primer spray paint and a tiny paint brush on mine. You can still see it, but you really have to look and i think it will prevent any further damage. I've tried a few different nail polishes for painting jika weights. Some perform very well and last forever while others turn so...

Time will tell. You can always mount your alde bfs to it instead.
