Re: Spin or baitcast
I use alot of both. If up on Erie, throwing jerks & cranks in the spring, you can most likely (actually always!) see me throwing them on spinning. Reason is because there is ALWAYS some wind up there, which ya want!, and spinning gear will get you "out there" better in the wind, with no worries of b...

Re: Favorite Springtime bait?
When it comes to Lake Erie smallies, which is where I'm at exclusively when the prespawn bite starts there, ya can't beat a Lucky Craft Pointer 100SP or 112MR, or really any good quality jerkbait in that size!!! Can you say 100+ smallies a day, with NONE under 3lbs! =D> ](*,) ](*,) ](*,) MAN I can't...

Re: Jerkbait/Topwater baitcaster
I like at least a 6.4:1 ratio on my jerkbait and topwater rods.
You want to be able to control line slack when fishing jerkbaits and stop/go topwaters and a faster ratio does this MUCH better than a slow ratio.
I use Revo Premier Gen 2's with a 6.4:1 ratio.

Re: Thanks to civicrr For Dobyns info
I think he is actually tech support for Dobyns and gets a cut of each rod he makes us buy. Or a large amount of stock in the company. I'll be buying more for sure all at his opinion. Got my eyes on the 705cb and will try an extreme soon as well. Again thanks civicrr. Just need all this snow and ice...

Re: Are Kigan 3D zero tangle guides suppose to look like thi
I notice alot of rod makers having their guides bent foward like that, in newer model rods.
Not sure why, but they do.
All my new Dobyns with those guides are exactly like that.

Re: Hideous rod grips
What is up with the hideous, non-ergonomic (to me) rod grips of new rods lately? For example, the new G. Loomis grips or that ugly black bulbous grip on the St. Croix Legend Extreme. Is this a response to what the market is asking for? Do you guys like funky grips? I prefer a full cork grip with no...
