Re: Issues with Tackle Warehouse
I just got an email for an backordered item that arrived but had been backordered for over 6 months, they sent email to confirm if I still wanted it which was nice, as I'm sure some folks would not want something that had been back-ordered for that long - ie they may have found it elsewhere, or it m...

Re: TD Zillion spool info
OEM Zillion/Zillion 50th spool will be typically be 21g with OEM bearing, Zillion LTD spool would be 18g. Type R, HLC, and 100M would all be around 16g IIRC, and J-Dream 14g
Re: NRX 895
No matter how much I wanted to like this rod, it is so tip heavy, unbearably so in my hands, It never stayed in my rotation... This and the comments following it are why this is the only NRX I don't own... I have the 916UBR instead - certainly not a lightwieght rod but with the full grip it balance...

Re: Who is the MOST over rated ?
Interesting points about reels, I agree and disagree at the same time ;). I like my Steez reels and my customized/upgraded TD-Z's. I'm a fan of a lighter high end reel, I'm a fan of the smoothness, the "reeling in butter" feel you get with the higher end gear. That being said, I've posted a few time...

Re: OG Zillion Gear Swap
It's a little different in that it (the 8.0 gear set) uses a non-standard drag stack... well not non-standard, but different than the typical Daiwa no 1 drag type setup, it's a pixy style setup. But the process is the the same, just follow the instuctions in the kit when putting together the drag st...

Re: Who is the MOST over rated ?
What was the old saying/guideline - spend your money on rods, not the reel - the reel is just there to wind the line. The feel all comes from the rod. Kinda like the tried and true adage - spend 2x as much on your scope as your rifle cost. Very few people do that anymore, although higher end scope p...

The majority of my Megabass rods are either Fuji ECS or ACS seats :-s What model did you have? Orochi Gen 1's... I don't recally what the seat was, but it was skinnier than the Fuji's I am used to and prefer. Kind of a glossy plasticy skeletal looking reel seet The Orochi XX Gen 1s have standard Fu...

Re: Who is the MOST over rated ?
Daiwa Steez rods as already mentioned several times - I've never actually handled one but the word has been out on that series of rods for a long time it seems. I actually passed on getting a few at cost due to the bad reviews. St. Croix, I'm not really a fan of their rods, but the lower end stuff d...

Re: DC (Antares, Calcutta, spool tension, distance, etc.)
My partner bird-nested the sh** out of a Curado DC this past week, so DC is not infalliable if you're not paying attention . Same for SV for that matter. It helps, but you can't go to sleep on it.

Re: Steez A revisited...
Just a little update to my initial post re drag star - one of the things that bugged me about the new Steez's is that Ziaon drag star. I mean, sure, it works fine. And it's light. But it just feels so plasticy and cheap :x So I ordered a Morethen PE SV aluminum drag star from Plat to compare and try...

Re: Cost to ship a rod is lunacy
Just a word to the wise, be careful under spec'ing shipping containers/tubes. Sometimes they check, sometimes they don't, but if you short the measurements for a lower price and they catch it, you will get the bill :). Which could hurt based on some of the pricing seen above... :(. Speaking from exp...

Re: Steez A revisited...
What is the difference between the two ZPI spools: NRC001M vs NRC001PG ? On the ZPI website, the only difference I can see is that they recommend 10-14 lb fluoro for the M and 16lb fluoro for the PG. Why is this the case? What makes the Steez SV spool better in the Steez A than the stock Steez A sp...
