I've got the MBR782IMX 6'-6"paired with my alphas for throwing small to med. cranks and it rocks. I also have the powell 683 6'-8" and like skeeter said it's a very nice and versitile rod. It may just be an isolated insident. I fish spinnerbaits all the time and sometimes, just like with soft plastics or other baits, the fish just plain short hit you. If they're short- hitting you slow things down, downsize or change baits.
