Re: Not exactly a kayak

Good deal. I transitioned from a kayak to a canoe several years ago, for me it's a much better fishing experience as far as comfort and ability to stow gear goes. I still own two kayaks for paddling trips with my daughter but don't fish out of them anymore. Post pics of your progress. http://www.tac...

Re: Wife has found me out

Nobody should question a grown man that brings home the bacon. That's one of the reasons that I ditched the ex-wife and I found a millionaire ex-model that buys me anything fishing or cycling that I want! Problem solved. 8-) Your results may vary :big grin: So it was you that snatched Giselle...

Re: Homogenization of tackle

You would figure with the amount of rod manufacturers and to a lesser degree reel manufacturers, professional and television anglers, nationally and internationally, there would be a wide spectrum of tackle choices. Maybe I’ve been living under a rock but does anybody else think there are actually ...

Re: Luck or Skill?

Fishing is the great equalizer, virtually anyone could potentially catch anything at any time. You can’t “jump the line” by any means, the best you can do in that respect is to increase your odds by getting off of the bank and into a vessel which gives you access to more water and even that is no gu...

Don't forget a silent squarebill in the shallows, just like you'd throw in July. Still gets bit in the cold ;)

Bomber baits Gen 2

They’ve upgraded many of their classics and have made improvements on some (they added a transfer weight to the Flat A to improve casting) … I bought a couple of the Fat Free Guppies and was pleasantly surprised to find the stock hooks are black nickel & extremely sharp. Don’t let the $3.99 price fo...

Re: Enthusiast L bill crank?

Don’t forget the Yo Zuri Flat Crank. It’s a bit on the smallish side at 1/4 oz but casts very well and gets bit … Well made bait, stock hooks may be questionable …

Re: Value spinning reels. Composite vs aluminum

Daiwa SS Tournament. $109. Been in continuous production unchanged since the mid 80’s. Has a whopping 3 bearings total. Enthusiasts hate it because it doesn’t have infinite anti reverse, it uses a ratchet & pawl anti reverse that is way stronger than an anti reverse needs to be but the trade off is ...

Bomber Square A. Unbeatable.
Absolutely. Fantastic little bait, be sure to replace the stock hooks though.

Another home run is the Booyah XCS silent squarebill which is the legendary XCalibur XCS reborn.

Clearance vs closeout on TW …

Probably a dumb question but what’s the difference on items labeled clearance/closeout there ? Does it mean TW is discontinuing an item or the manufacturer is ???

Re: Googan Squad makes the best rods

It’s all in your perspective. Personally I’m not interested in Googan products simply because nothing I’ve seen so far has “pushed my buttons” or intrigued me in any way when apparently they have on many other anglers judging by their success. As for the “junk” aspect of the gear, that can be subjec...
