Re: Abu Garcia Eradicator 6' 7" Slow Taper Special.
Interesting rod. What type of fishing do you feel it is best suited for, Randy? Your usual twitching Trout Magnets on the bottom or something else? I have only used it with a 1 gram jig head with a Trout Magnet up until now. It certainly excels at that. I have several 3 gram vibration baits.....sma...

Abu Garcia Eradicator 6' 7" Slow Taper Special.
I have had my eye on this rod since it first came out but was reluctant to purchase. From what I had gathered Abu Garcia is not a big ajing rod player in Japan. The rod is made in China and while I have several rods manufactured in China I have gotten used to build quality of "Made In Japan" rods......

Re: Polyester line on bfs gear
How are the handling qualities of polyester line and any advantage over flouro lines? Would it be a good bfs line? I have no clue how it will do on BFS gear. The advantage over FC line on spinning gear is...extreme sensitivity....extreme casting distance. The stuff is great for very light lures...1...

Re: UL trout lures from japan - hooks?
As said the Cultiva micro swivels. As to jig heads none sharper than the Daiwa Gekkabijin jig head....problems is finding them. For trout lures I would check out Finesse Fishing website.....he has some good ones. Now for a huge recommendation of a lure that trout love. The Timon Metal Kuroball 3.5 g...

Re: Drop shot rod recommendation
I tangle with larger fish quite often on JDM UL rods....no 7 pound trout though. I have a 2017 Finezza Prototype that is not much fun catching crappie and bluegill on. It is superb rod for smallies...white bass......even large mouth. I use area trout rods to target Spotted bass in the 15-17 inch ra...

Re: JDM line recommendation for UL trout fishing
Thanks a lot guys. The gosen braid is in stock at digitaka, so will probably go for that for now. I will see if I go for soft FC or not. Spools with leader are so small. I like to re-tie pretty often. Usually use a rod length worth of leader. I will see what I can find. .16mm(4lb) is apparantly #1 ...

Re: Looking for recommandations for a UL trout rod
I own 2 rods from the Ice Cube series.....but nothing over 6’ 11”. They make a very good rod.......sensitivity is off the charts. Regards Sounds compelling. I see the only model left on digitaka is a solid tip model. Not really sure how that will work with spoons and plugs. Do you know what type of...

Re: Looking for recommandations for a UL trout rod
WRT alternatives for Trout Magnets, look at Crazy Fish as a brand, plenty of options and widely available the EU. Thanks, I will have a look around. So, I'm pretty much set on the Major Craft rod, but I while browsing I stumbled upon the Tict Icecube IC-74FS-Sis . Anyone have any experience with th...

Re: Looking for recommandations for a UL trout rod
Sounds like you need two rods to do what you want to do. I do not own any stream trout rods but do own 4 area rods.....and another is on the way. I have 3 Fine Tail Banshee rods...a 6 foot SUL.....a 6’ 7” L action.....a 5’ 9” XUL on the way....1 Palms Egeria in a 6’ 4”, and a Fine Tail Area Stage r...

Re: Looking for recommandations for a UL trout rod
Thanks for the replies. I'm sorry, I forgot to mention that I'm looking for spinning rod at the moment. I was considering getting a bfs combo aswell, but blew my budget on some expensive reel. Will probably consider it come christmas. Well, I mostly prefer trout spoons tbh . Also sometimed jerk/cra...

Re: Looking for recommandations for a UL trout rod
Hello fellow fishermen. Looking for a recommendation for a JDM UL trout rod. 7-8 foot would be ideal. I mainly fish small lures, crank baits and such. I would also like to try out some light jigheads with softbaits or live worms. I mostly fish in a local lake and a connecting river(not very rapid t...

Re: Will the real 4# please stand up
Stroft make a wide range of lines, including (very expensive) FC and PE lines. Personally, I'd recommend Stroft ABR, still very high b/s to diameter, but with slightly more abrasion resistance which is often useful in UL. As a more general reflection, I think that the traditional UL / 4lb spinning ...
