Jig rod length?
I'm trying to decide on a length for a jig rod. I'm already set on trying out the an omen. But I can't decide on the 7'1 or 7'3 mh. I'm gonna be using for pitching and casting to cover, as well as some skipping and some football jigs, mostly around 20 feet and shallower. I like the 7'1 for pitching ...

Re: $150-$200 cranking reel
I like the gen 2 revo's, they're just too heavy. And I'd be all over the gen 3 if it wasn't for the gearbox. It's just not comfortable enough when fishing. I have one and fishing it isn't a burden or anything like that, I just wouldn't get any more of them.

I thought about the bb1, but the multi stop anti-reverse turns me off

$150-$200 cranking reel
I need a new reel for mid range cranking in the $150-$200 range. I'm already pretty sure it'll be a lews tss or lews tp, but I'm open to other suggestions. Any input would be good. It'll be going on a 7'6 med/mod falcon and it's a pretty light rod and definitely balances better with lighter reels

Re: perfect fluke rod?
I don't think braid with 12-15lb leader necessarily means bent hooks, even with light wire jig hooks. Just use the appropriate hookset and play them right, don't just lean on them. I've thrown topwaters with small trebles on braid and pulled fish out of some decent vegitation without bending hooks. ...

Re: 13 fishing Omen jig rod
Alright, I'll throw the beefy hook jigs on the mh and I guess I'll have to get a med too for smaller jigs. Nothing wrong with more rods

Re: 13 fishing Omen jig rod
I also like having having good backbone for jigs, but I like the tip to be responsive to light pressure for lighter jigs and feeling for light bites. I do a fair amount of smallmouth fishing so a sensitive rod with a good tip is important for light bites in deeper water

Re: 13 fishing Omen jig rod
I've also been really thinking about getting the 7'1 mh for jigs in the 1/4-1/2oz range. A lot of pitching to moderate cover, but also some deeper applications for smallmouth. I'd like to hear a little more on the tips of these rods. Are they soft enough to load up with 1/4 jigs. I threw one on my e...

Re: G Series Curado
I'm considering the g's more and more. Shimano hasn't failed me yet and for $130 on ebay I think the g's are worth it

Re: G Series Curado
This is grabbing my interest more and more. I understand it isn't quite the same caliber of reel as the e's, but I'm seeing more people say that the overall feel and performance of the reel is still very good, as with most shimanos. I've considered the new chronarch, but in that price range it has t...

Re: Lew's Tournament MG
I own the 5:4:1 - It's a great reel for the price. I paid 89.99 and added the Lews carbon fiber handle Where did you get the lews carbon fiber handle? I've been looking and can't find them Tackletrap. They also carry Daiwa covered handle nuts and nut retainers. I think they look much better than th...

G Series Curado
Who's got them? Who loves them? Who hates them? Most people would agree that shimano dropped the ball on these reels, but I'm hearing more and more from people that own and use them they aren't that bad all in all. I don't own one, but I have handled them and would still take an e series over them. ...
