Re: TDZ for Bottom
With the Carbontex drag upgrade there is no issue with using a TDZ for bottom contact. It is just as sold as any other magnesium reel. You wouldn't think twice about using a Steez or any of the Shimano magnesium reels for bottom contact so why would a TDZ be any different? With its slightly higher p...

Re: Steez Racing Design 701MH / HXB-ST
I checked and it says Built by Designo on the blank and on the but it says Disigno Ultimate Custom Tuned by Kamiya if you can tell me what all that means. Is this strictly a jig/worm rod or does it have a moderate enough taper I can use it as an all around stick with single hook moving baits as well...

Re: Steez Racing Design 701MH / HXB-ST
The closest rod that I have to compare is a Designo Leben C71MH+RST2S TT Kamiya tuned except it's one piece. The tips are similar on these models but the dual taper on the Designo is ever so slightly more moderate. The Designo Lebens are flat out some of the most sensitive rods I own or have ever f...

Re: How do you like your high $$$ round reel?
I like them all but for deep diving crankbaits if its a true high $$$ reel go all the way and get a LIN 10! That is my favorite deep diving crankbait reel, great caster, so smooth with so much power.

Re: Most sought after Daiwa 34mm spool
RC001/rc002 for control. slp works 1010, r, r+ for casting distance. Blue Emblem to show off on this forum. Good post! I agree the Blue Emblem gets a ton of love maybe because its so rare? Yes its a great spool and casts light stuff a bit better than an RC 002 but no better than a ZPI PG or M spool...

Re: Evergreen Stingray 66 - The forgotten rod
It makes the spinning rod replacement assuming you have the right reel and spool. It is special in how it works equally well with bottom contact as well as moving or treble hook baits in the weight range. Like I said it isn't the lightest but very crisp and perfectly balanced.

Evergreen Stingray 66 - The forgotten rod
So before last season I got an Evergreen TKDC-66MLBF-Pro Stingray 66. Tackle Tour has an old review up on it but you never hear much about it. Let me tell you this rod is special! No it isn't as light as some newer rods but is perfectly balanced and feels amazing in hand. It has the "it" factor in s...

Re: Reel Pairing for MB Destroyer Javelin
I have one with a LIN 10 and another with a Monoblock. Both palm and balance very nicely. I also sometimes use a TD-Z.

Re: Sensitive Moving Bait Rods
The question comes up a lot, usually in threads where it’s “which rod to buy for xxxx technique” and I’ve heard so many times that the better sensitivity is not needed, even when someone is ready to spend the money. I say go for it! And glad that some agree. That AGS rod sound fantastic and I know ...

Re: Best wake baits / waking cranks?
There is a reason the 1 minus and baby 1 minus are still going strong after all these years. They just flat out get bit. I don't know that any newer or fancier baits actually produce as well. To give them more of a wake just reel a bit slower and hold the rod high. But they also get bit diving just ...

Re: High end JDM rod recommendations
Ultima and Designo would both be at the top of my list. Designo is a blank manufacturer that used to make blanks for companies like Evergreen (anyone remember the triggerless Stingray model? ). Yes! The triggerless Stingray was new rod for this season. Loving that rod for bait finesse, un...

Re: Wart style baits
I've seen mixed reviews on the modern warts. Some people say they have the desired wart action, while others still covet the originals. I'm not sure I understand paying 35+ for a Wart that may not have that unintentional wart action. Check out the Megabass Spriggan or Wiggle Griffon. Other than the...

Re: Evergreen Super Stallion
I just got my first Evergreen rod the Kaleido Stingray 66 and am super impressed. By today's standards it would be a little heavy for its power but wow is the workmanship on this rod fantastic and it has the "it" factor in spades. Perfect for small jigs, ned rigs, and things like that as well as bei...

Re: Wart style baits
The Tekel Drunker is very close to a good old wiggle wart. It has the super wide kick like the wiggle warts as well as the hunting action and is the same size and shape. I would not say that the curve 55 is the same catagory as the old wiggle warts. It does hunt a bit and has similar diving depth bu...
