Re: Daiwa Capricorn Reel Noise

i was at cabelas checkin out reels and noticed the Exceler does that too. i opened up 2 from the box nd sure enough, same noise. on TD-advantage and higher models, no noise. still though, for a $60-$100 reel i still expect smooth operation

Re: light reels

i agree with islandbass regarding size. if you choose the daiwa offerings, it would be a 2500 or 3500 size reel. i'd go with the 2500 size. I have a Cabela's Tournament ZX 2500 which is similar to the Daiwa Laguna 2500 and i use it to fish landlocked stripers. now i'm not sure what size stripers you...

Re: Is the Daiwa Capricorn and Cabela's Prodigy the same ree

late post but what the heck. Spinning: Cabela's tournament ZX = Souped up Daiwa Laguna Cabela's Prodigy = souped up Daiwa Capricorn All warranty claims go to Daiwa. I own the Tournament ZX2000 and 2500. I also own a Capricorn 2000 and 3500. I also have their Prodigy baitcaster which is a Pinnacle Sc...

Daiwa Capricorn Reel Noise

i noticed on my capricorn spinning reel that there is a slight pop noise (not loud but audible) when i retrieve. at first i thought it was the spool but i noticed there is play on the main shaft and when i tug up and down it pops. i believe there is slight play on the connections. Would you say that...

Re: This has to be the stupidest lure of all time

hahaha. i thought it was a joke at first. From their FAQ section: Are there other advantages to owning a slickFISHâ„¢ lure? With no exposed hooks in its latched position, slickFISHâ„¢ will not catch fingers or fellow fishermen. It is completely safe as compared to other lures with their expo...

Re: how often do you clean and oil your reel?

oil when needed. complete teardown twice a year. i fish 3 times a week for a total of 18hrs/wk. sometimes i'll do it when i notice that reel feels like it has resistance.

Re: Asian Carp/ Anyone view Nature on PBS tonight?

yea. just a bummer to have them invade the waters. i live in kansas city. our local news did a live report from the river about the flying asian carp. the crew and camera person were in a boat on the kansas river and you could literally see these carps jumping like crazy. it knocked over the cameram...

Re: DOES THE RIGHT HAND KNOW WHAT THE LEFT HAND IS DOING?

I'm a lefty. for my baitcasting rig: cast left, retrieve right handed comfortably. for my spinning rig: i cast left and switch hands to reel with my left hand. it's comfortable for me. now you guys must be wondering why? I don't understand it myself. I tried casting left and retrieving right on my s...

nice boat. i agree with the other angler, the fishes don't really care. as long as it's functional and ergonomical while in pursuit.

Re: Daiwa Kastor reels

i have the 1500 also and it's a good reel. not as refined as more expensive daiwa reels, but while i was casting 1/16oz jigs for crappie, an 8lbs channel cat hit it. i had only a 4 pound line (trilene xl) so i worked it til it bout nearly fainted or ran out of breath. had my buddy go into the water ...

Re: Daiwa Kastor reels

I own a kastor 1500 and it works just fine. however, it is not as smooth and has slight backplay on the anti-reverse. nonetheless, an excellent value if you can get it for less than $40.00

Re: Cant handle another 8.5 review

yea, what i do is try to ignore the score and base my decision on the content of the review. it's more helpful because sometimes certain attributes in a reel that is being judged may not be the most important factor to you. example would be weight if you don't care for it. i don't care really, i'm j...

Pinnacle Tactic Spinning reel sale at Cabela's

does anyone have any info whether the Pinnacle Tactic is a good deal at Cabela's sale price? It's going for 39.95 with an MSRP of 89.95. It would be nice if anyone can give me insight on Silstar's quality and reputation and if you recommend any other reels in the $40 range that I can use for land fi...
