That would depend on whether he's tooling for a 1pc or 2pc... The only one within his length requirements is the 7'.... Does look like a good rod, tho!Big-Bass wrote:What about the St. Croix Trout series?

Re: Dobyns DX744 or 745
Awesome! Down the road I definitely want to get a 735 for a dedicated frog rod, but sounds like the 745 can pinch hit for now!

Re: Fast/X-Fast Action Ultralight Rods
I'm definitely leaning towards the Loomis now... Any 500 series reel recommendations? The Laguna will do for now, but eventually want to upgrade... Those new Symetres looked pretty sweet... Anyone have any opinion on those?

Re: Fast/X-Fast Action Ultralight Rods
I took a second look at the SJR6400, and eventually I'm going to go with one. I do a good amount of small river/stream fishing with smallies, so that sounds like the best option. Not really worried about casting distance in the lower range. I infrequently use trout magnets, and i can always keep my ...

Re: Fast/X-Fast Action Ultralight Rods
@Thor, I know it's hard to meet the UL requisite with a strong butt section on a rod. Did you hear anything about the Phenix Dragonfly? The fast action version? I was fishing last night and hooked into a 2.5lb pond largemouth on my Cherrywood/Laguna (Older Laguna, the one TT did a review on) spooled...

Re: Dobyns DX744 or 745
Ok, cool! Could it double up for frogging as well? By general consensus on this forum, most people go with a 735 for frogging. Does the 745 have too moderate of an action for frogging?

Dobyns DX744 or 745
Anyone have an opinion on what would be a better moderate-level grass rod? I'll be throwing 3/8-1/2oz jigs, and potentially flipping beaver/creature style baits with a 3/16oz-1/4oz bullet weight. Is the DX745 too much for the Texas rigs? How does it feel weight/balance wise compared to the 744? I'll...

Fast/X-Fast Action Ultralight Rods
Anyone know any rods that would fall under this category? Just looking for a rod which doesn't flex all the way down to the handle when I hook a fish with it. Currently have a 5' Berkley Cherrywood which I run 2# SOS mono on. It has absolutely no control even with 4# mono on any fish over a pound. I...
