Re: Got spooled... Anyone else?
I've been fishing more shallow spools lately, and I still have yet to have this happen over thousands of days of fishing. I've caught a ton of huge carp and catfish on finesse bass gear without ever getting spooled. Many of those catches were on ultra light spinning tackle. I had a lake record 22.5...

Re: 34mm Mag Z Boost Spool Now Available
Wondering when the new shallow spools will be out, would like to see the Alphas SVTW shallow spool eventually become available once the reel comes out, along with the Steez Shallow Boost spool too. I always enjoyed the Mag-Z G1 spool in the Steez A, actually handles lighter lures better than most wo...

Got spooled... Anyone else?
Today I went to fish a local pond at Lyon College campus. It is a decent sized pond, but have never caught anything other than literally pan sized fish there. I have caught crappie, bluegill & bream, bass, all the classics. Well today I arrived and caught a few, took my 6'3"UL Proflex 2/Zillion SVTW...

Re: Zillion SV spool swap
Ray's Studio spool with light braid. My current 1/4 oz distance champs are a Ray's Studio inductor swapped Alphas SV and a Engetsu 100. I like the Ray's Alphas SV with 10# flouro and the Engetsu with 20# braid. Both have nearly double the capacity of a 34mm Ray's Studio spool and can be emptied of ...

Re: Tatula disengaging
Yeah I could see the anti reverse slipping creating that feeling... It would be an odd occurrence mechanically for a quick hard pull on the spool/pinion/main gear/drag/AR bearing/handle. Just isn't really a path where the thumb bar should come back down. Not saying it couldn't happen, I guess anythi...

Re: 22 steez sv tw limited
Update the damn frame already. Its been six years. Yeah I found that odd too, maybe it is to use up excess production frames??? Would rather just see a CT frame with a larger spool (if that is even possible). Anyone think it would be worth it to try this shallow spool in a Zillion SV1000? I already...

Re: Bad tackle thread (what to avoid)
unless you are fishing completely 100% open water, near no forms of rock, trokar hooks are acceptable. otherwise be prepared to roll the point and lose fish. Yozuri hard baits are absolutely fantastic quality lures. I use them for all species and have not found a better manufacturer of baits on the...

Re: Bad tackle thread (what to avoid)
OG NRX reel seats ;) That reminded me... pretty much all cheap/non-brand/OEM guides on certain brands. Lew's and Abu have been EXCELLENT in replacing rods for me, simple, no questions asked, fair, friendly, etc. but most of the time their stock guides on even $250 range rods are questionable. They ...

Re: If you know, you know
I didn't realize these were that great, I mean in theory they would be awesome, should have tried the Berkley version on my last TW order.

Re: Dock skipping bluegill baits?
How is the hookup on those Megabass Gill baits? Assuming we will all find out pretty quick anyways, but for me that is one of the few things that holds back full body weedless gill imitations. If it is anything like Dark Sleepers then they are great. Fish try to eat them and your stick them in the ...

2nd BFS Rod
So far the only BFS I own is a Tsurinoya Proflex 2 with a DIY BFS 1016 spool, normally using it in a Zillion SV TW and running 8lb Sufix 832. Recently I found my line somehow tangled (odd cause it was deep in the spool), removed about half the line to leave 50m or so, and began to really enjoy the c...

Re: Bad tackle thread (what to avoid)
Last season I ran out 10# flouro and reluctantly bought 10# Vanish for an outing because 10# Sniper, Advance flouro and BPS flouro were all out locally which is all I can find. I found some Vanish and it performed adequately. No complaints here. I do strip off a lot of line as a preemptive measure ...

Re: Gears: Speed vs Durability
I think so, though I have no science to back it up. It has been my experience that reels above 7x gear ratio are the ones that get buzzy or geary, or outright fail under heavy use. Mechanically speaking, the main gear's teeth are visibly smaller and the pinion gear is definitely smaller in diameter...

Re: Bad tackle thread (what to avoid)
The Strike King KVD 1.5 Deep Diver Squarebill. Well built and fine quality, but runs horizontal then angles up and jumps out of the water, just will not run straight or dive. I bought one of the R2S Rover 98 sizes, haven't used it yet, scares me that someone said it was garbage. Berkley Vanish is fl...
