I now have 4 Tatula 150 5.5 and an OG Tatula 5.4 for crankbaits and a Steez A 5.3 The with doesn't bother me at all. I had a couple of JDM TD Battler JDM AND 2 JDM Steez rods about the same time frame as the USDM and liked them a lot. It could be because the JDM models were moving bait rods and the USD...

I use my Steez bottom contact rod and my Steez utility player for those applications
I really like the utility football heads and big jigs up to 3/4 oz then the bottom contact rod for heavier lures

Back in the 90s I knew a few guys that did this just to keep line twist from happening.
I believe there were a few pros who did that to also. Never tried it myself
