Re: Straight up long distance
Daiwa Zillion 100SH with a HLC spool paired with the EverGreen SkyScraper TMJC 711M gets me 60 meter with a 1/2 oz lipless. 60meters is 196 feet = 65yds ?????????????? [-( [-( [-( Doesn't surprise me. The HLC spool is designed for baits 1/2 oz. and better. The spool is 30% lighter and designed to g...

Re: When Braid Has Clear Advantage Over Fluorocarbon ?
In a prior thread there was a discussion about long distance casting. I thought it would be interesting to add that to this thread as well. Fluoro can have unwanted stretch at longer casted distances rivaling mono with lighter rated line, especially with heavier lure weights (i.e 3/4 oz. on 8-10# Fl...

Re: Favorite UL line
I know some have complained about Nanofil, but I have enjoyed using Nanofil in both 4 and 6 lb. test. It casts great is very sensitive and has performed well on the rivers I fish most often. If you want to try Nanofil, be aware that it is not cheap and tht you need to be vigilent about check for fr...

Re: When choosing Daiwa tuning spools
http://www.japantackle.com/Tuning_parts/tuning_spools_daiwa.htm Refer to the OP's link for additional info : http://www.japantackle.com/Tuning_parts/tuning_spools_daiwa.htm It's my understanding that the T3 spools fit the Steez just fine and the Steez spools fit the T3 by removing a brass shim. I w...

Re: Creek Smallies
since the big girls aren't down that deep. can you explain this reasoning, i've always been under the assumption that the bigger fish prefer the deepest areas of the creeks and streams.... Also the deepest holes i've found aren't very rocky compared to the other less deep holes in the creek which i...

Re: Creek Smallies
If I had access to a bait shop that sold live bait, I'd try to get the largest chub minnows I could find! I'd nose hook them weightless on a live bait hook like Owner® MUTU™ Circle hook so they could swim down on their own naturally. I'd also try a 1/16 - 1/8 oz. wt. Neko rig (small nail weight in t...

Absolutely stunning! There should be a spot light on you when you fish with that combo! Anything less would diminish the obscene beauty of that rod and reel. Thanks for sharing.

Re: Boca High Speed Oil vs. Rem Oil?
I've been using the X+1R which was acquired by Penn, and is now sold under their name, in addition to the Rem oil and find I don't need to reapply as frequently with the Penn oil (synthetic). I was using the Rem oil on my Pluton which I use for larger swimbaits and I'm guessing because of the higher...

Re: Boca High Speed Oil vs. Rem Oil?
That's one of the charts I was referring to. No "High Speed Oil" on it. True but assuming the Boca High Speed Oil viscosity is approx. 18.75 at least gives you rough idea of wear it falls out with other lubricants. Also, this link verifies your suspicions of it's viscosity: http://www.bocabearings....

Re: Plastic swim baits...??
I've had remarkable success with the Scrounger also. Does so many things well with many trailer types. The bill functions almost the same way as a chatterbait. The jig can be used with and without the skirt. I've done the best with skirts with the Skinny Dipper clones from Bass Pro and Zoom Swimming...

Don't know if you've seen this chart but it's worth looking at for the comparison of the Boca Bearing Viscosity, hope it helps!

Calais 200DC, 200TE DC and Z200 That comment about DC's being good choices for the handicapped is right on the money. I have severe back problems that limit my mobility and have tried to buy equipment that works with my limitations. These three are scary long casters but have been fortunate that my ...
