Re: New Dobyns website

Saw the change the other night. I like it. I'm like you guys, the Extreme 765 Flip should be hot. The 746 featured on YouTube really has me looking to add another DX.

I agree with everything posted. I have two, both full rear grip. They can do most anything.

Re: Dobyns Champion Crankbait Rods

njbasscat pretty well hit the nail on the head. You have three choices really. 705 cb, all graphite but the blank is designed with a parabolic action. I don't own that model. I do have the 704CB however. The 705 glass is a composite with a slower tip and all the benefits of glass and lots of power. ...

Re: Crankbait slumming...

Both brands are some of the best values in crankbaits. The Deep Little N is my co-favorite hard bait. I don't have the tuning issues some guys speak of. Normans has some color patterns that are money in my region. The DLN runs a bit deeper than the bandit 200. The finishes hold up better and stock h...

Re: Dobyns 684cb vs. 704cb

I also throw the 704CB for all my jerkbaits and lighter topwater baits. I don't own a rod under 7 feet anymore. That little extra length is to your advantage for casting and taking up line. The video you watched was Paul Mueller. He's not that tall himself. The 704CB is extremely versatile. Mine is ...

Re: Lew's Knob Peeling

I have several Lews in 5 series and one reel, my first Super Duty is peeling. The rest are fine. Lews customer service is extremely good.

Re: 3 crankbait rods to rule them all

I think you are about spot on. I have the 704CB, 764CBRM but went with the 705CB glass rather than 765. Most of my deep cranking is around rock for smallmouth. If I was fishing trees and submerged brush piles, that might influence a change to the 765 or even the 805CB. Lots of personal preference wi...

Re: My Dobyns Rods

This cork issue seems to surface frequently these days on a number of forums beside this one. The wine industry has impacted the availibility of cork. Every rod company that features a cork grip system is challenged with finding clear cork. Remember the days of lumber without a knot in it and now a ...

Re: Dobyns Video

Thanks for posting the video link. I had to watch it a couple of times to see where the blank shut off. I have a DX745 and DX795 and can see a niche' for this rod. I want one ! I have no intentions however to lift a gallon of anything with it. That was something.

Lews BB1 for me. I bought the 5.1 to 1. If you plan on double duty, go 6.4 to 1.

Re: Champion 705C

Not to pig pile this thread, but if you want to Champion series, 735. As mentioned, the DX 745 would be my choice. I love mine. The DX784 was apparently designmed for football jigs but it might be feel a smidge light for 1 ounce. The feel of the DX series is pretty darn good. Good luck !

I too would consider the Dobyns Champion 764CBRM. Surprising parabolic action for an all graphite rod.

Re: Was JIP a driving force why the Revo took off so well?

Pure fishing went into the introduction of the Revo series with a promotional plan already in place. ABU first put Revos in the hands of as many BASS Elite and FLW pros as possible. Tournament coverage in conjuction with print media and electronic media saturated prospective buyers with the name. Pu...

Re: Lamiglas Infinity

Lamiglas is an excellent company and have some great people who work there. I'm really puzzeled at the direction taken with their bass line up. The handle systems on the Infinty looks large and awkward. The former XMG series, when they dropped the fore grips was headed in the right direction I think...
