Re: Curado K vs Curado 70
I am looking to grab a couple more reels. I currently have a couple cu70's and am happy with them. I have yet to see the new K in person. Is there much difference between the two? The K is $50 cheaper and it has me intrigued lol. The K is pretty small. I haven't fished one yet, and have only TRIED ...

Re: Dock skipping setup
I use a Zillion SV TW 9.1 with a custom 7'6" St. Croix Legend Elite Medium Heavy Moderate Fast. It works pretty good. That is my jig rod. If I were to have a designated skip rod, I'd use a shorter rod, like 7ft-7'3". The SV spool makes a difference. Just make sure you have a rod where the bait load...

Dock skipping setup
What's everyone's dock skipping setup? I'm asking at several forums to get a broad as variety as I can get. I'm looking to try and master this or just figure it out this year. The reel I'm putting together is a Steez 100SH. Putting an SV103 spool and brass 8.1 gears in it. The rod is where I'm not s...

Re: Tatula TW SV vs Curado 70hg
I own both. The tatula is very good for skipping, but don't discount the 70 as far as a "controllable" platform. They're both pretty nice at their price points, but I prefer a smaller form ergonomically like the 70 has, especially for anything I'd use a fast gear ratio for. Moving baits and heavier...

Re: G. Loomis GLX Casting Rod 7' Heavy 844C MBR
I'm at work and was going off TW ratings and had the 843 clicked. My bad. Thanks for the correction.Fishing4Fun wrote:The new GLX series is rated up to a 1 oz and I am pretty sure the old one was as well. Not sure why your rod says 3/4 unless you are actually referring to the 843.

Re: Lubing a MGL
The latest version of SVS started in the Curado 70. The Aldebaran is a generation prior. Either way, the brakes require maintenance periodically. The latest version requires it much less frequently. Question Dan: My experience with Shimano reels starts at the D series and up. The D,E,G all used bas...

Re: G. Loomis GLX Casting Rod 7' Heavy 844C MBR
I just received this rod a few days ago. It's rated to handle up to 3/4 oz. I don't know if I'd feel comfortable frog fishing with it though. It would handle the casting just fine, but mine never gave me the impression I could horse a fish out of the slop with it that some frog fishing has. I may be...

How sturdy are they? Do they slip or the bands break very easy?cortman wrote:
I like the Fuji hook keepers a lot, I use them on my GLX rods too since that hook keeper is so tough to use.

Re: Curado K or Chronarch G?
Lowest I went was 1/8 oz tungsten weight with a 7" culprit worm. So maybe just over 1/4 oz? It did pretty well. I used 10# Senshi mono and 30# J-Braid. The J-Braid was easier to manage, but both were nice. Never tried fluoro on it though. The spool is a hot rod. Bearings looked like the darker JDM b...

Re: Curado K or Chronarch G?
Something else to think about, I fish out of my Kayak on occasion and no matter how careful I am, I always end up buggering up a reel. I'd feel better about banging up a 170 dollar reel than a 250 dollar reel. Forget banging up, I flipped for the first time a month ago, lost 2 setups including my s...
