Re: What's your rod lineup for this year

I don't even have an old (or new) tin can to fish out of, and my rod collection is a lot more ridiculous than yours. Nothing compared to any one else here as I don't have the budget to be spending hundreds on every rod. BUT I do occasionally come across higher priced rods at a price I feel comfortab...

Make the Classifieds Section twice as appealing
 So true. Makes the pocketbook a bit thinner as well. Which takes a load off my bad back. A win-win situation. :big grin:

Re: Your most versatile rod?

I always bought my rods with the idea of versatility in mind. It wasn't until years later that I started looking at technique specific rods, but even then I'd venture to guess that they aren't one trick ponies. I honestly haven't tried to see how many different types of lures I can fish on any speci...

Re: BFS for Crappie?

My last crappie...while Largemouth fishing in Florida...was caught on a 1/2 oz. spinnerbait and MHF casting rod. Biggest crappie I've ever seen. :big grin: Back when I fished for them, small Beetlespins and Roostertails worked very well. Used spinning gear in those days. I see no reason why you can'...

Re: Opinion: It may not be worth it

I agree with several others. Catching fish in my area is tough. The only thing that keeps me going is the nicer gear I have gotten. It just gives me more pleasure during my time out. Sometimes I don't even care that I got skunked...............again. I still smiled throughout the day.

Re: Do you guys always use reel covers and rod sleeves?

Reel covers always, rod covers rarely. I have a few hundred in reel covers. I put the cover back on before picking up the next rod. Learned that the hard way after getting a nice boat rash on a mint Chronarch 101A. I about cried. Seems like rod sleeves could become aggravating to put on and take of...

Ugly half red thing. Maybe the USDM will be less offensive looking. I rather like the satin black paint, black level wind insert, frame milling, red accents and ghosted vector logo of the USDM model.
Looks miles better than the Tatula CT Type R though. Talk about ugly.

Re: Need a rod for a new-2-me reel. Budget increased.

Found what I consider a good deal on a used rod so I went with the Helium 3 7' M-XF. Price was even better if you bought two. So just for giggles I got the 7'3" Light MHF as well. Two used for the price of one new. \:D/ And I still haven't broken the $200 price point for a rod. :big grin:

Re: Need a rod for a new-2-me reel. Budget increased.

I'm sure the Oneten is a great rod, but would increase my budget by another $50...about $120-$130 more than my original. Absolutely love the idea of the 6'11" Medium + Adrena, but feel it and the Oneten would require a spool change as I don't consider about 65 yards of 12# line quite enough. I do ha...

Re: Need a rod for a new-2-me reel. Budget increased.

It'd be easier if your budget were higher ;) Jeez. I should have expected it. After reading all posts and some waffling on my part I have decided to up my budget to the $350 area. Instead of getting a very good rod, I might as well get a great rod. :D I would prefer an all around rod which is why I...

Re: Need a rod for a new-2-me reel.

I’d suggest the 6’11M poison Adrena on sale & that would put it right around your $300 budget. It’ll be a great match with the steez, they also have a 7’2M. I’d skip the Expride with it being so close to the Adrena in price, I like the Adrena lineup about as much as my nrx rods Can you point me to ...

I would be a true TackleTour poster if I could just make a $100,000 more per year. :big grin:

Re: Need a rod for a new-2-me reel.

Thanks Cal. You have given me a lot to think about. Yes, I want to stick with a Medium/Medium Light. Preferably with the Medium being able to handle 1/8 oz. or 3/16 oz. as I have more than enough Medium and Medium Heavy rods. I recently picked up a used Steez SV103H. I assume it would also work well...
