Re: St Croix AS70ULF, AS70ULF2 & Loomis SR841-2

I would not get the st. croix over the loomis. st. croix UL's are much softer and whippy compared to the loomis UL's. I have the SR841-2 and it is amazing. I too compared the two years ago and did not care for the action of the SC. the loomis SR series gives you the flexiblity to cast light baits ve...

Re: Shimano UL Spinning Reel....

I use a stradic 1000 for my UL fishing.

it is light enought that it balances well on most UL rods and the 1000 size spool is better than the 750 size anyway (larger coils = better for a whole bunch of reasons)

Re: time for a spinning rod! powell v. st. criox v. loomis

I have a Loomis SJR782 and it is awesome for alot of what you are looking at doing. I had the GL3 and the IMX versions, but prefer the GL3 because the handle is much more comfortable IMO. I don't notice any difference in terms of how the GL3 fishes compared to the IMX, at least with these two models...

Re: Bantam1 prob with stradic

yes, I have read about the plastic bushing too. its in the rear of the reel apparently, and swells when wet. soime people pleaded with shimano to make the bushing out of brass, but I don't think it happened... it really pissed off some of the members on that board when shimano customer service brush...

Re: Hot Sauce harms Shimano reels?

Maybe I am "over reacting" but I am the type of person that seeks the truth. If one person makes a statement, they better have the proof to back themselves. Especially when they associate themselves with a major company. The individual is representing his company and needs to act as such. The comme...

Re: Bantam1 prob with stradic

LOL no, I used to visit a well known smallmouth forum that used to bash the hell out of shimano reels because everyone used to fish in waders or in a kayak and many people on the board had problems with stradics binding up when wet. I love shimano reels and have never had a problem, but I have never...

Re: Hot Sauce harms Shimano reels?

If Shimano is so fragile on it's lubrication requirements, maybe I should start buying less Shimano and more competitors' products. of course, this is the other way to look at it. rather than say "Hot sauce is crap because it wears down gears" you could say "Shimano gearing is crap because they wea...

Re: Hot Sauce harms Shimano reels?

agreed.

buf if shimano will never make this claim in writing, has the language of "only shimano endorsed products will allow a warranty to be valid" be changed?

Re: Hot Sauce harms Shimano reels?

With all due respect, all good points indeed but who pays for this "controlled experiment"? Who pays for the second one on another competitor's product? Will these competitors provide actual chemical compositions when there are "proprietary" substances involved? Will Shimano divulge how much money ...

Re: Hot Sauce harms Shimano reels?

One thousandths of what im guessing is a millimeter is absolutely silly and im sure happens from when stuff wears in no matter what lubricant is used. I have to agree. in order for shimano to substantiate this claim, they woiuld have to do a controlled experiment ie design a study where the same re...

Re: New products-Part 1

Awesome pics! thanks for this thread! One thing that I would like to know is if shimano has addressed any of the issues that anglers have had with binding spinning reels when wet. people who fish from canoes/kayaks, wade fishermen etc. have been complaining about binding stradics, symmetres etc. for...

TD Sol vs Stradic MG

Hi Fellow Tackleholics, In your opinion, which is a better reel? the Daiwa sol 2500 or the Shimano stradic Mg 2500? both are the same price in my area. I have been a Shimano guy all my life, but have heard so many good things about the sol. I will pair it with a St. Croix Legend Elite 6'6 medium pow...
