Re: Braid causing gear wear?

This is interesting! Being a Salmon fishing guy none of my Micro Module gears have held up well... I use light line as well nothing over 10lb test and I notice after sticking a hot fish that makes several hard runs or several in a row that smooth reel I started with has left the building... I have ...

Re: Expense and Certate LT

I would have a hard time buying anything price wise above the Certate LT they are built solid with liquid smooth gears and a stout drag, yet they rotate like a feather. Daiwa nailed it on the LT's you feel the precision from the first turn of the handle and they remain that way even under a load! Kurt

Re: Braid causing gear wear?

Check your pinion bearing as a first step before you replace your gears. Fair call but when new bearings are put in, gears back into mesh (via alignment markings) and everything is sweet gear buzz is certainly different from bearing noise either physically or auditory. Short of body misalignment or...

Re: Braid causing gear wear?

The one Lews I had held up well and My Steez A and SV have not had a single issue yet and they are all 8+1 to 1 reels. My Shimano's have not, either did the FK/FB Shimano spinning reels I used to have... That's why I posted up asking about the new Stradic FL smoothness, My older versions are still g...

Re: Shimano Stradic FL (Smootheness)?

I really like the Ci4+'s my only gripe with my 2500FB and my FK's was they started getting geary after a short time, all of my FA's and older Stradics are still smooth as new. That's my only real complaint i have with the current models I had, the smooth gears I expect in a $200.+ haven't held up. I...

Re: Shimano Stradic FL (Smootheness)?

I didn't like the start up inertia on the 4000FK's at all, the Daiwa's are excellent in that respect and the feel through the handle is much better also, i can feel the thumping of spoon or spinner blade were as the FK was just knumb tension through the handle. The butter smooth gears of the Daiwa's...

Shimano Stradic FL (Smootheness)?

I have been looking at a couple of Stradic FL's at Sportsmans Warehouse here in Alaska and neither are smooth? Both are geary? I keep reading about how smooth they are but these aren't? are display reels turds? one is a 2500 the other is a 4000, I own every generation of Stradic back to the FG but I...

Re: 15 Metanium dc HG gear swap

Check your parts schematic against the Met. parts schematic on shimano's web site if the gear part numbers are the same your in business!, The non DC Met MGL and 13 use the same drive gear (Aluminum) but have different pinion gears (already brass) due to the model change in the spools. I switched bo...

Re: Need Help, New Spinning Reel

You will love the Certate they are butter smooth and rock solid, I fished my 4000 the other day with big spinners (high resistance lures) and it is liquid smooth no knocks, clunks or binding when pulling those lures in current. Pretty amazing quality you can feel every turn of the blade. My 2500 is ...

Re: Steez A vs Shimano Bantam

My Steez A is liquid smooth whereas my Bantam was exactly like my Curado K you can feel every tooth mesh and worst under load, Casting... the Steez is very controlled yet flat launches a lure, the Bantam was very picky between decent distance and blowups, the Steez palms better and is very precise ...

Re: Steez A vs Shimano Bantam

I had both, but used them for smaller Salmon species up to 12-13lbs using higher resistance lures, both were high speed ratio. to make a long story shorter I ordered both and fished them on the same rod with everything else identical, I still have the Steez A and returned the Bantam, the Steez was ...

Re: Steez A TW - Worth it?

I was a huge Metanium both 13 and MGL, I still like them but I don't use them like I used to since buying a Steez A, they are great reels.
