Mine did that as well. You have three choices:
- Glue the foam grip in place
- Get a new knob (and risk the same happening again)
- Replace the foam knob with a septon one.
I took the last option on both my CI4's.

Been using both solid and laminates for years and cannot say that one is worse than the other. Durability of both sucks . But they flat out catch em.
