Re: 19 Antares for stream trout?
I have thrown 5 gram lures with the standard spool, which worked fine given plenty of room to maneuver. I have purchsed the DIY spool for the Antares 19, and it helps quite a bit with the light lures down to around 3 gram. As the reel is relatively heavy and large, I mostly pair the reel with longer...

Re: Conquest BFS 2023
I have been very happy with the 17 conquest with KTF spool, which was made for a short while, and have little need to upgrade. I prefer the 17 conquest to the millionaire ct sv, which I also use with a KTF spool. The millionaire had not been on the market for long before japanese shops began to have...

Re: Daiwa spool capacity question
Older spools: 1012 is more shallow, 1016 is deeper...
Newer spools: 1000S is more shallow, 1000 is deeper...
Or so it seems to me anyway.

Re: Premium Mountain Stream Rods-The Hunt
I have been very happy with my Smith Be Sticky 53 rod. It is a somewhat old rod by now, but it still works great. The biggest fish I have caught with mine is the searun trout pictured on the photo from summer 2019. Note, it is a very large net. If I recall correctly the trout was around 10 pounds an...

Re: Tsurinoya Dexterity Ⅱ C722UL
Ok, thanks for info, despite of that's bad news to me. But I will compare casting distance to Kuying Freestyle Walker UL. If Dexterity II outcasts Freestyle Walker, it's enough good caster. Btv, which rod you substituted Dexterity II? I have mainly gone to custom rods from resilure in uk and bb cus...

Re: Tsurinoya Dexterity Ⅱ C722UL
Not a huge fan of the rod, vs.1 perhaps. Solid tip, funny action as I recall with the solid tip having much impact on the lighter body, not a good distance caster. Caught a few fish with it and gave it away.

Re: Daiwa BFS Offerings...
Other than the Gekkabijin (prefer braid), I have used line from 4lb mono up to 7lb fluorocarbon. I usually run fluorocarbon for most of my BFS bass fishing. Braid is a pretty popular choice. The issue with an across the board line choice is that line type matters so much with the rod. The same adag...

Re: Honest opinions...is BFS really worth trying?
I love it. I find it more fun, but I also find it more practical and useful when fishing small streams with lots of vegetation, which is most of my fishing. Spinners and their bail arms constantly catch vegetation and get it messed up underneath the line - nuisance. And then there is crosswinds with...

I have 3/4 of the mentioned reels and mostly use braid 0.6-0.8 PE.
Have also had good succes with 6-7 LB Fluoro.

Re: Daiwa SV103 vs Zillion SV TW
Ha. Sorry. I did not notice the date of the old post.
Beautiful SV103s you have there.
I use ZPI in mine too. Or should I say, I have ZPIs in my SV103s as I rarely use the reels. I do not think I used them at all in 2021-2022. Hope for time to give them a workout in 2013.

Re: Daiwa SV103 vs Zillion SV TW
Thanks for all the input. I have decided on the Zillion SV TW for now mainly due to it being lighter, further caster, and I like the knobs better. 8-) I own 2 of each reel. The zillion casts better (longer distance) and does a little better with light baits. However, difference in casting length an...
