Re: homemade spooling station

I'd like to make something like the "spooling buddy" - those things are cool but $$

"Trippy" bail on spin reel

I serviced my Shimano stradic 2500mg a number of months ago and ever since my bail has been "trippy" - the bail closes with TOO much ease and at times if you try to add a little distance to the standard casting motion, the bail trips and the bait either slaps the water close to the boat or (if heavy...

Re: Spybaiting w/Duo

Are smallie fisherman having success with spybaiting with deep smallies. I am going to be targeting great lakes smallies in 20plus ft of water and wondering if I should give this technique a go... I am thinking even if you are a little shallow the smallies may see these and go after them?

Anyone know of a cheaper subscription to this magazine...seems pricy for the # of issues you get.

Re: Blade bait season is back!

Rip up and let fall has produced best for me - sometimes 6ft sometimes 6 in. I love the vicious strikes in ice cold water these can produce. I have had the best luck with the Damiki Vault (I too have a few vortex baits on preorder) - but have some binskys to try as well. I can't wait for Door County...

Shimano parts must haves...

Just putting together a shimano parts order for an anti-reverse piece. Just wondering what parts you guys keep "in stock" at your tool bench to have at hand for part failure/replacement/loss. I was thinking springs, clips, screws and other stuff that has a tendency to wear out during normal use. I h...

Re: Smallie hair jigs

Finesse deer hair jigs in 1/16 or 3/32 oz does the trick in spring on the great lakes...gave up on my search and learned to tie them myself. Took about 3 or 4 failures but I have it down to a science now and am stocked up for the opener in WI next weekend.

Re: Performance rainwear

Update: I chose the Cabelas Guidewear GOretex Bass Rainwear - bibs and jacket - and actually got the pair for $280 with a cabelas promotion a few weeks ago. The combo is an unbelievable value and actually compares very favorably to the simms prodry. I have only seen that suit for a few minutes up cl...

Re: Punching Reel

Core 100 mg7 is a bad jig/punching reel....I have been very impressed with its much more solid feel and power compared to the 50mg cores I have used for years.

Re: Enough with the tackle. LETS SEE SOME FISH!

Cats are voracious eaters regardless of water temp.....just need to find them. We found their wintering spot in WI on a local lake and catch them all winter long through 2 feet of ice!!! And yes, they will crush your jigging rod too! Smallest channel went 8lbs all the way up to 28lbs this winter...s...
