It used to be easy to compare when they had the website Tackleservice.com. The site had schematics and specs. for most Quantum reels. But when Rather bought Zebco, they dropped the website.
Bummer! Kinda like when Lowrance lost Linda Tripp as a service rep. Their service went straight downhill.

Re: What Other Species Have You Caught by Accident?
... Both the carp and catfish, both over 20lbs, ruined the aluminum gears in two baitcasters ! Bummer! Shimanos (Micro Module?) Daiwas, or....? They were both on Quantum Smoke original 7/1 Burners. Fortunately, the 7/1 brass main gears from their Vapor bait caster fit the Smoke reels, and I was abl...

I fish the CA Delta, and the water always has some color and current, so it helps me.

After you've cleaned it, if it still works, coat the damaged areas with clear nail polish, relube it, and keep fishing it.

Re: why chartreuse?
According to some studies, bass sees chartreuse as white. I don't know if it's true or not. If that's true, what's a good reason to use chartreuse, instead of white. :D Correct. I’ve posted this study before: https://academic.oup.com/cz/article/65/1/43/4924236 Bass can’t really distinguish between ...

why chartreuse?
I throw a Megabass 110 Bone Elegy jerkbaits, because it gets bit in colder water. Jerk, jerk, then pause, and they come up and eat it on the pause. No other color scheme gets bit.

They should have quit changing after their Smoke Burner. That was the best reel they ever made, period.

If you're around the CA Delta, you can get them replaced for $10 ea. Check with The Basshole, or the Hook, Line, and Sinker, about Average Joe Rod Repairs. Both are in Oakley, near Franks Tract.

If the guides can be straightened out, or replaced if needed, I'd keep fishing it from the kayak. Flipping a kayak seems to be an expected hazard.

Re: Moving to lighter gear due to injury?
My tennis elbow was caused by forearm muscles that had become shorter over time, so they put more pressure on the tendons which connected them to the bone. After cortisone shots didn't work and resting didn't work, I decided to stretch the muscles myself by gripping my golf driver, and then putting ...

Re: Salt free trailers
look into getting some custom baits made, there is a ton of bait makers in some groups on facebook that would be willing to help! personally i never put salt in my baits, its used by the big bait brands as a filler, its cheaper than plastisol and also weakens the baits, making them less expensive t...
