Re: Best dropshot rig...in the world?
I've enjoyed fishing my custom Lamiglas LSJ901 built on micro guides down to 2mm for many years now.

Re: Tennessee handle for a small child rod
I have had no problem with any of my kids with a standard tennessee grip. The grip diameter that gives the best ergonomic grip would be 19% of your hand length. We are at 11% or less depending on hand length on most of our freshwater rods. I use an 18 or 20 mm relseat all the time on my rods for thi...

Re: Short ultra light rod blank recommendation?
Unless the conditions warrant a short rod I would rethink and go to a long one. The fish feel much larger on a long rod, you have much more control over your presentation, you will be casting further within reason, and there is zero downside to a 2 piece or more blank nowdays.

Re: ti micro guides sizes?
Agree with the last post Ti guides are not any lighter and the micros built by Batson Alps have been used in saltwater extensively for many years. The weights we are talking about you have to weigh 20 or more guides to even get a noticable difference that is repeatable. Do not think that you need an...

Re: The cost of rods and reels these days
If you look at the prices paid 40-50 years ago for good gear compared to today, factoring in the wage differences, I don't think we're doing all that bad. The thing is we have a much bigger selection, at all price levels than I would of ever imagined even 20 years ago, I can't imagine trying to star...

To me the specs look closer to the CR rods Loomis makes/made.

Re: Anyone tried Rainshadow Rx8 blanks?
I've never had anymore problem with Batson than any other blank fron the big producers. A 125 lb salmon shark was caught with a RX6 SH108 rod, and I have a SH1143 that's on it's 3rd kid in a family.

Re: how do you straighten a crooked blank?
G Loomis blanks/rods are less likely to be straight due to the way they are constructed. It's a long story for here, but Gary has explained it more than once in print and video. The GLXs have to use an even different process to work with the GLX material.

Re: Building a Ultimate Rod
There isn't anything I can see particularly special about the NRX blanks, especially since you can't buy one.
I agree with above it's not particularly hard to build as better rod than the factories put out. Just make it lighter, especially at the tip.

The Rainshadow HS 962 is a versatile blank that was designed for plug fishing so you've got the right idea for that blank.

Re: Weibe Handles Loomis
You can still get the Super Sticker reelseat/grips you just have to roll your own. When Simano bought G Loomis they went all japanese products. Have always liked the comfort of the 15 degree offset. Comfortable in the hand and the design puts your reel a bit lower in relation to your hand, IMO impro...

Re: Kistler questions
The more thread, finish, and other foof you put on a rod the more it weighs and it drastically effects it's response, especially in the tip section. I haven't seen a bass yet that care how pretty my rod, or boat is. The REC recoil guides "can" weigh less than the Ti frames/SiC guide set, but the non...

Re: Rod for Far&Easy casting of 1/4-3/8oz
The Diawa Cielo is a very technique specific rod so I'd take that one out of the mix. Dropshot specific rods don't cast particularly well. The furthest casting rod I've ever had my hands on that fit your bill was a spiral wrapped rod on a Shikari SHX PSJ 662 blank. It is one sweet blank for the weig...

Re: g loomis bsr 802 glx spinning rod ?
The Loomis is a nice rod, but the rods action will not give any of the characteristics you mentioned. Accuracy, distance and sensitivity have nothing to do with rod's action.
