Re: Dobyns Rods up for Sale?
Probably no reason other than needing a new length, action, or just need cash. I know sometimes, I'll use a rod, LOVE it, but just feel i could use something different. Had a Powell 703CB Glass, Really like it, but prefer graphite or composite rods for cranking. Now i'm debating selling my glass rod...

Re: New Cumara question
A friend of mine bought the punch rod a week or two ago... directly from a shimano rep through some in-store promotion at one of our local retailers. He said he likes it. Really light weight.

Go with the 706... I found it to be a great all purpose cranking and reaction bait rod.

Re: swimbait reel & reel for punching
For swimbaits under 4 ounces, I like the Shimano Chronarch 100BSV. I always look for something that'll hold 75+ yards of twenty pound FC. For bigger swimbaits and as a 'swimbaits only' reel i use the Curado 300D. For punching I like something light, 11+ pounds of drag, oversized gears, and 6.2:1 or ...

Re: Multipurpose Reaction Rod
Try the Powell Max 706CB. I've ripped, cranked, bladed, and thrown traps on this stick. Also thrown superspooks down to poppers. Great all purpose reaction rod. It also comes under your price range of $150, @ $139.99.

Call Powell directly, 888.635.9763
Tell them what happened and they'll try and take care of you. Keith is a great guy, super nice, easy to talk to, and loves talkin fishing. Great story with a bitter sweet ending.

Re: Who uses balancing weights?
I tried it with an 806 Lamiglas FLipping stick a few years back. I hated it. It was a tip heavy rod, but my arm was more fatigued by the added weight to balance it.

Re: used Chronarch, or new Curado?
Which Chronarch. I own a couple 100a's, 100SF, and 100Mg. They cast GREAT. Light lures especially. I also own a few 100B's and those cast well, but they are rock solid and tough. Never fished a 50Mg, but fished similar and those i suspect are awesome as well. I also own a few E7's and E50's. The Chr...

Re: what would be an ideal rod
How big of a wake bait? I've been throwing the Evergreen TR/FR for all of my wakebaits. It is the BEST rod i've found for this technique. I wish it were 3"-4" longer... The Evergreen  Anyhow it's great! I've boated many 5-9 pound fish on it. It's the deal. It's got a what i consider a 'true' mo...

Re: Powell swim jig rod
It should be a good rod for soft jerkbaits also. I've got a 733, similar action and it works great.
Re: Jig rod.
Try a Powell Endurance 725. It comes in at under your price range of 180. If you are fishing light cover/open water. Try the 714.

Re: IMX 844 got any idea?
The 844 for, was a great all purpose rod. I used to have 4 IMX and 2 GLX. I used them to throw pretty much everything except cranks, rips, and treble hook topwaters. It was by far a great senko and jig rod. It should be a great toad and frog rod for you. 30# 832 should be plenty around light cover.

The 683 and 703 will have a little more backbone than the 702.
