Re: 13 Fishing Omen and ENVY A series online for sale
With a Chronarch Ci4+ and 20lb Power Pro Super 8 Slick, I was able to cast a 3" Hydra with a 1/0 light wire wide gap hook just as far as I could with the same reel on my 7'1" MH Omen, casting a regular size 4" Hydra with a Damiki D-hold hook. If you're not familiar with the Hydras, there's a big dif...

Re: 13 Fishing Omen and ENVY A series online for sale
I'm pretty excited to use it, but won't get to for another month unless there's a major warming trend here in PA. Compared to my 6'10" ML Omen spinning rod, they're pretty similar except on the "A" casting model the rod power starts just a couple inches earlier. But they are fairly similar. It's ver...

Re: 13 Fishing Omen and ENVY A series online for sale
Got mine from American Legacy on Friday. Casting in the yard on the snowy ground and with lots of wind, it seems pretty great for a finesse casting rod. Put my Ci4+ on it, but plan on trying my Curado 50E as well.

Re: 13 Fishing Omen and ENVY A series online for sale
Just saw that as well. I ordered the 6'10" ML casting from American Legacy and it should be here Friday. I'm excited, even though there's still lots of snow and ice here!

Re: Light braid for casting?
I ordered up some 16lb Sunline SX1 today, so I'll be glad to give it a shot. I typically use 30lb on baitcasters for just about everything.
I'm wondering what would be the lightest backing, to keep the spool weight down.

Re: Molix
Nice setup, USA-RET! Those Molix rods do look nice.

Re: Shimano JDM Scorpion 200/201, Japan model 2014-
It's unfortunate that the majority of recreational anglers in the US think they need as much line as a 200-size reel holds. Even the pros use backing. There's a video of Aaron Martens talking about braid as backing on his reels, and he demonstrates using a 2013 Metanium. That's a 100-size reel. Gran...

Re: best $100 dropshot shot
I'll second that 6'10" Omen Black spinning rod. Awesome rod.

Re: Chronarch Ci4+ for finesse?
I've definitely cast 1/4oz lures with my 200E/G reels without issue. Some weightless Texas rigs on the lighter side just don't do so well. And I pretty much only use my spinning rod for drop shot. Baitcasting is just more enjoyable, to me. I figure I'll at least try it out. If I can save some bucks ...

Re: Chronarch Ci4+ for finesse?
Not sure about actual weights, but mostly weightless Texas rigged soft plastics. Z-hog Jr's, 3" Senkos, 3" Hydras, etc. And the occasional 1/4oz. hard jerkbait or square bill. I'll be using 16-20lb braid and a 6'10" ML Omen Black rod.

Chronarch Ci4+ for finesse?
Anybody use their Chronarch Ci4+ for finesse with the right rod and line? After I realized that my Ci4+ cast a lot nicer and a little bit farther than my Curado 50E, I got to thinking that I might be able to get away with using it for some lighter weight applications. Both reels are stock, though I'...

Re: MB Orochi F4.5-68XX Jerkbait Special a possible finesse
Ordered my 6'10ML from American Legacy today and it should ship by the end of the week. Then all I have to do is order a reel.
Still got plenty of ice and snow here, with more on the way tonight, but I'm getting cabin fever pretty badly! This acquisition won't help at all

Light braid for casting?
Anybody use lighter braid for casting reels? I'm thinking about trying 15-20 pound this year, and not just for finesse applications. I like PP super 8 slick and Sunline SX1. A little worried about it digging in, though. What backing do folks use? I've been using cheap mono, but I wonder what would b...
