I don't like the standard build of the Phenix or dobyns DX rods, but I can easily get a Phenix umbx700m blank and build myself the rod I'd like. Dammit, I was hoping to avoid that!

Rapsody rods make a great 6'3" rod which I borrowed on a trip in July. Really impressed with it for topwaters and jerkbaits. Nice light tip for casting but some power lower down. Just stick some mono on it and give it a few casts, you'll be able to determine whether the problem's with the reel or the line as mono always works.

You can probably find a cheap chinese charger on ebay for it. Worth a try before you bin it I suppose?

Most europeans prefer LHW baitcasters too. I would think it would be around 3:1 in favor of left hand wind baitcasters. Not sure how many $500 baitcasters you'd need to sell to pay for the tooling, but certainly a lot less than the £150 dollar ones.
