Re: Daiwa Tatula 200 or Type HD (beater saltwater reel)

If you really want to be cheap the Johncoo Ares would be a good beater 200+ capacity reel for salt. You'll need to grease and oil as they come dry and crunchy/geary out of the box. I have 2. $48 aluminum frame and double aluminum side place double pinion suppored 9.9 oz 200/300 size reel. It's big ...

Same reel. They renamed the old Tatula HD 150 a Tatula HD 200 in 2019 or so when they came out with the last gen Tatula 100. I've got a JDM Tatula 150 Custom and it's just a fancy Tatula 200.

Re: WHY are there no short enthusiast pitching sticks?!?!

xXx super orochi? It's a JDM fast so certainly slower than a Loomis or whatever XF. I like the slower taper for pitching myself. It loads the rod better and seems to shoot a jig well. I like my gen 1 orochi xx PP with its XF taper but really only use that soft tip to pitch weightless 3/8 plastics on...

Re: Megabass 2023 Orochi X 10 rods

Anyone have experience with the Swamp Survivor and how does it compare to the P5 Tequila Baccarac? Thanks This is the best take on this so far. Got a couple on the way. I'd be glad to post my thoughts and a few pics when they get in. From the photos I've seen of folks who got them in today, they ar...

Re: JDM 2023 new releases

Megabass Swamp Survivor. I don't even need it but I want it. Its like an even better version of one of my favorite rods. Have you tried the Swamp Survivor? I’ve been eyeing that one recently. Thinking of picking it up. I haven't gotten one yet but another member here has one and commented on it in ...

Re: Zillion sv TW 1000

Don't ask... Bitcoin is finally running again though at least. Took the Zillion TW with me to Venice Louisiana earlier this fall on a Redfish trip. It put a whooping on some big bulls and didn't miss a beat. https://photos.app.goo.gl/2iaRUft7widJ51Qe8 Jesus i thought you roped. You did buy the bott...

Re: 2021 Daiwa Zillion SV TW

I have to stop. Flip the reel over. Make an adjustment. Cast. Life is so difficult  For me in a cover orientated target rich environment passing by docks with pillars and openings presenting themselves to me as I scan my head searching for targets its a big deal to be able to lock eyes with th...

Re: SV boost and shallow SV boost spool question

I heard they are good but wild. Like 75% of the brake settint needed to tame the spool. I like my ZPI RC spool in my limited. The weak magnets work well with the big inductor on those spools.

Re: 2021 Daiwa Zillion SV TW

Great reels. My only complaint is the mag dial. It's basically impossible to adjust while palming the reel. No more making a gesture with my thumb towards me or away to send baits skipping or flying to targets. I have to stop. Flip the reel over. Make an adjustment. Cast.

Re: Does this bait exist?

I'm looking for a slow sink line through soft bluegill. A multi segment bait with that erratic S swimming motion those baits have. Not interested in a paddle tail which most gill baits seem to be including Savage Gear's own line through bluegill. I have their 5" 3 segment bait and its amazing in th...

Re: Third generation Tatula is coming next month

I will have to handle one in person to confirm, but this new Tatula looks to be the most uncomfortable one to date. Protruding mag dial and crazy contours for the thumb rest. It seams like more reels these days are forcing the user to put their thumb in a certain spot. I like a nice flat area to pu...

Re: Anyone tried DIY spools? $29-$40 BFS spools!

I have a question for anyone with a Tatula 80 and KKR spool. How does it skip? How does the stock spool skip? These reels are going for $113 on Aliexpress. Very tempting.
