Re: Weight of Cumara CUC-72MH?
I knew before posting that Bantam1 stated in a previous thread that the listed weight of the rod has been 130 grams since 2010. That seems too heavy to account for the numerous raves I have read about the rod's exceptional lightness in hand, especially since it doesn't have much counterbalancing wei...

Weight of Cumara CUC-72MH?
I'm wondering whether the Shimano catalog can be right in listing the CUC-72MH as 130 g (4.6 oz.). That would make it .1 oz. heavier than the BPS Carbonlite 7'0" MH fast rod.
Does any reader of this post have a CUC-72MH of 2011 or 2012 vintage that he could weigh for the benefit of the rest of us?

Re: Maxima Perfexion
I haven't seen it advertised in years, so you're probably going to need to look on auction sites, estate sales, or small out-of-the-way tackle stores with slow turnover. Unless someone here has some they'd like to sell you!

Re: Cabelas Platinum Rods
revo680, I mounted a reel on that Platinum spin rod (6'6" ML) in a store and found that the hook keeper was where my finger wanted to be on the blank. I had three fingers ahead of the reel stem. Evidently this is not a problem for you. Do you hold the rod with two fingers behind the reel stem, or is...

The Patriarch XT has a spool that is smaller in diameter and lighter than the Premier does.

Re: Falls Inch Minnow
IMO, better as a collectible than an angling tool. I tried Inch Minnows for panfish and trout with little success, and the few bluegills I did catch had the entire back treble in their mouths, all three points in flexible mouth parts, and removing the treble consumed a lot of fishing time. Another j...

I measure the spool lip (not the skirt) of the 9525 graphite-core main spool as 39 mm. in diameter.

Thanks for taking the time to share your impressions and to state the conditions under which you formed them.
The line will probably show less memory when fished at temps in the 60s or better, instead of the 30s.

Re: Daiwa Fuego 150A
I have handled four Fuego-A reels. None were butter smooth. When turning the handle, especially at a slow speed, I felt what you called "ticks." The sizes included two 2500s (Cabelas 50th Anniversary versions) and standard 1500 and 2000 Fuego-As. I do have spinning reels that are butter smooth, some...

Re: Spool Diameters
Apparently my post was taken as critical. Sorry, I didn't mean it that way. I was surprised because your spool diameter figure was different than the one I have figured for years applied to Shimano 1000s, and I tried to account for how that might be. Calipers are the best way to take diameter. If th...

Re: Spool Diameters
First, I am surprised at your measurement of the 1000. What matters most for line management is the diameter of the spool lip, as that is what limits the coil size of the spooled mono.* I have quite a few old 1000-size Shimano Aero spools with lips that are just under 37 mm. across. I take it you we...

Re: Shimano TRANX Reel?????????
American Legacy Tackle's latest newsletter has an announcement of the Tranx that is worded as if to cover themselves if the thing falls apart: "We JUST RECEIVED a Small Allotment of the Brand New Shimano TranX low profile casting reel. This is simply put one BAD reel! Pat attention all you musky or ...
